>"leads us not into temptation…"
1. Is this a good translation? I don't understand why this is in the prayer, since God is good and even by our own intuition wouldn't do such a thing, and confirmed by James 1:13. It seems like a superfluous thing to pray for or worry about….
2. Does rejecting "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" and 'do not cast the first stone' mean that judges shouldn't hand out retributive justice, harsh prison sentences and death penalties? If a convict shows remorse and asks for forgiveness, wouldn't a judge be obliged to just forgive him and set him free? Assuming we're under a Christian theocracy, not some secular court.
