What do you think of this album? Even though it's written by someone who doesn't believe in Christ, it's still a quite accurate adaptation of the bible, and the fact that it tells the story from Judas' point of view makes it better because nobody understands Judas better than a denier of Christ. Some call it offensive to the faith, but for me it challenges me to truly understand what I love about Christ.

I can't say I care for it

>What do you think of this album?

if it's anything like the song you posted: awful.

>the degenerate, fedora interpretation of the bible is the right one

lol

>Judas understood Jesus better than the apostles, that's why he sold him out

weak

>but for me it challenges me to truly understand what I love about Christ

what do u understand about God? Who do you say God is?

Can't believe there's anyone who hasn't listened to it. Anyway, they kind of screwed up the recording for the background music in that scene, but the original albums is pretty good if you love acid rock, black worship music, and funk.

>Judas understood Jesus better than the apostles

No, you read it wrong. I said atheists understand Judas' point of view well.

>what do u understand about God?

He's many things but the point this album tries to make and captured perfectly is He isn't preoccupied by earthly matters at all. Even when His hometown was occupied by the Roman imperials and His people misled by corrupt leaders, He still advocates you to change yourself for the better rather than judging and fighting others. This is what Judas disagreed with Him.

>[God] still advocates you to change yourself for the better rather than judging and fighting others.

You realize he went around talking to people, healing, exorcising demons, arguing with pharisees, and telling normies to repent and change, he didn't just stay in the desert or have private talks with his apostles.

>God isn't preoccupied by earthly matters at all

except when people defile his temples and he has to whip them out.

>You realize he went around talking to people, healing, exorcising demons, arguing with pharisees, and telling normies to repent and change, he didn't just stay in the desert or have private talks with his apostles.

I mean He turned down the Zealot's way of violence and the Pharisee's way of rejecting and stoning sinners.

>except when people defile his temples and he has to whip them out.

And He said that He could rebuild a temple in 3 days.

Still doesn't mean God doesn't use violence because he can. Since He has no sin he can cast the first stone whenever he wants. Jesus made the flood and killed the sodomites for example.

And that gay shit of the Jesus super star is the most unaccurate and atheistical description of the Bible ever. Every single scholar would dismiss that shit as pure fiction.

Its depiction of Judas is too favorable for a man who was explicitly said to want to pillage the poorbox, the subplot of Mary Magdalene being in love with Jesus panders to Dan Brown fanboys and it's coverage of Christ's divinity is so minimal that it's no wonder the Soviets loved it. It practically comes right out and says Jesus was just a man.

I like the movie version way more than the stage production. The stage production plays more like an Easter pageant and it's dull as heck. That movie was pretty good, though.

>Dan Brown fanboys

You realize that it came out LONG before Dan Brown started penning his drivel, right?

Before I was a Christian, I liked the movie (mom owned the album and I listened to it when I was younger, I liked the movie much more though)

Now that I am a Christian, I see it as the heretical piece of (((trash))) that it is.

>Roman soldier's crucifying Jesus being portrayed as pink-shirted men in yellow hard hats out of a gay nightclub.

>Female singers in raunchy Vegas showgirl outfits.

>Out of place Disco-Funk music in a blatantly ancient Middle Eastern setting.

Gay campy trash at best. Heretical blasphemous trash at worst.

The entertainment industry has slandered religion for entire centuries. Nobody does anything about it because they're all fixated with defeating the enemy denomination across the river instead of purging the synagogue of Satan from within their own ranks.

I see your point and all but… I dunno.

The actor playing Jesus is weirdly cold and unkikeable. There are only two or three good songs in the whole musical. And it's all long musical. But that's Andrew Lloyd Webber for you. Oh! The sets look awkwardly empty. The bit with the tanks is dumb.

Faggy Herod and his degenerate cronies are spot on perfect. 1000% ahead of its time, regretfully.

It didn't age very well. Showed it at my parish, trying to launch a movie night. Few people came out to watch it, and afterward the few that did turned the Q&A into a lengthy examination of why it sucked and why the seventies ruined our Church.

I'd sooner show a nonbeliever the Last Temptation of Christ.
