I just started playing this JRPG Tales of Zestiria and there are some definite Christian and Arthurian allusions there. The main character has the ability to see beings invisible to most humans, called seraphim. He ends up pulling a sword from a stone after talking to the lady of the lake (a seraph). Doing this reveals him to be this prophesied figure known as the Shepherd. He then sleeps for three days and three nights before recovering. As the Shepherd he is the mediator between seraphim and humans (heaven and earth). He is able to purify malevolence and uses this to stop evil beings born from malevolence, called hellions (daemons in a later game). His ultimate goal is to stop a satan-like figure called the Lord of Calamity. It's not a straight 1:1 metaphor but there's more there than I usually see in these games.

"You kill demons so it's christian" : the thread.

Getting real tired of this meme.

There is a problem with this board. And that problem is trying to justify one's love for pop-culture by trying to tie them to christianity.

"Goku saves people so he is a saint/ You can BTFO demons in doom so it's christian/ hey look, bloodborne the game full of creepy imagery and that is a massive timesink has catholic allusions in its storyline. It's good!"

Christian values are universal, And christian symbolism is very popular so of course you're bound to find it anywhere as long as you look.

You know which game has definitive "real" christian symbolism?

Saya no Uta

Yes, Saya no Uta, the most "degenerate" visual novel out there has actual christian symbolism :

In the most famous ending, Saya sacrifices herself out of love to become an "angel of light", and by doing so she can "saves/revive the world" from her point of view. because this is what she was sent to do, from her own world. She also compares herself to a dandelion, if it falls on a desert it dies, but if someones were to love it, that dandelion could populate the whole desert. It's very analogous to Jesus's parables about the mustard seed/grain of wheat. But to do so, she needed to love and be loved in return

Of course, the difference is that we all known Saya's true nature [spoiler](a monstruous eldritch horror sent to turn everyone into a eldritch horrors as well) but from the MC's PoV and by proxy, the player's, this is really "a good ending" the VN tricks you into "loving" the unacceptable by twisting human's natural disposition to only look at superficial things (also read: Halo's effect).

And well, there's something of the sort about trying to justify mass entertainment through the prism of christianity. Because it has one good thing, you overlook all the damaging effect it has on you and society.

Yeah alright, you kill demons in BB and it has catholic overtones. It's still the game that is making a lot of people waste their time and live in a virtual, ultimately worthless world.

The antechrist will not appear as the literal heir of hell, he will be meek, talk about love and fraternity, and unite people, a literal "super hero" remember this.

TL;DR : Vidya, anime, and whatever are fine but you shouldn't spend too much time into it and not try to tie them to your faith in any case, especially not the big corporate productions like Overwatch, the TLOU, Marvel, etc

The main character and his childhood friend "angel" buggers each other. It's official, the devs said it. To be fair, that game development was nothing but trouble and nepotism.

Pretty much this.

I like biblepunk stuffs though. Rare these days. Not just borrowing Christian themes and symbolism, but fictions derived straight the biblical age and figures. Not video game, but Vampire the Masquerade (and the whole Old World of Darkness of the '90s before SJWs screwed it up in '10s) mythos is that God exists and He plays an active role in the affairs of everything. I really like it.

Cain murdered Abel, then he was visited by angels, each who asked Cain to repent and beg for forgiveness, Cain refused and each time he did he (and so his children and their children) was stricken with a curse. Curse of weakness to fire, sunlight, and a Beast which hungers for blood. The fourth angel made an offer to him by the grace of God, the path of light. From then, the first vampire was born. Bestowed with immortality and superpowers, wandered the land of Nod, established cities, loved and heartbroken, etc. His children became quintessential vampires, monsters who lurk amongst humankind and play deadly politics amongst themselves.

In the End Game (Gehenna) scenario called Wormwood. The truth is that God love Cain so much, that he bestowed to him supernatural power and immortality along with the curse so he can take as much time as he wants to find it in himself to repent. When it became sure that Cain will not repent, God passes His judgement onto Cain and his unrepentant children save for the few who still has in it in them to repent and prostate before God whom God has called beforehand to a small church in the middle of nowhere to be trialled. Cain himself however, is irrelevant, for he was tired of his children politickings and everything and withdrawn himself completely from the world for aeons (nearly 200,000 years or so to be precise).

The few vampires are trialled harshly. They are to stay within the church for 40 days during this time and once they entered if they leave, they cannot re-enter. The vampires outside starts to slowly rot and dies, their supernatural powers wane, and they cannot draw sustenance from blood any more. During their stay in the church, they are confronted with moral dilemmas. Such as an old woman who has a heart attack in front of the church. Church is in middle of nowhere, phone reception is nil. Will they sacrifice themselves (and possibly damn themselves for eternity) to save her life or not? Etc.

The whole vampire thing was for monstrous sinners to become literal monsters in order to learn what it is to be a human. After 40 days, the church disperses into dust and collapses and vampires are greeted with sunlight. Those who failed are burned to ashes, those who passed become human again. And God will also promise to them that they will live until they are old and grey and will pass onto the life to come peacefully on their beds. No harms shall come unto them to take them before the appointed time and He will not allow any agents of Evil to harm them and those who attempted to do so will be punished sevenfold and the wicked will know them for God has marked their immortal soul and anyone who gazed into their eyes will see it clearly, so the wicked will know better to not harm them. That is their reward and their covenant with God.

I'm pretty early in the game but I haven't seen any hint of that yet. Is it actually implied in the game?

>Is it actually implied in the game?

The Japanese calls it BL (boy love)/Yaoi stuff. It is not overly explicit like what you would see in the west, but it is displayed through many suggestive actions they do (very intimately closer than what bros should be, heart-to-heart talking which can very easily be interpreted in *that* way). In short, ambiguous.

I have read somewhere else long ago that the devs also said it themselves that they are homos, but chaste. The reason I said the development of this game was trouble from start to finish is because the game director hired a certain voice actor which he personally is fond of, but not on professional basis; and the writer is a huge fujoshi (woman who likes BL so much, looks like a reverse quintessential weeb) so from this point on I will spoiler, read at your own risk: Alisha got pushed aside from the main party because excuse plot demands it and from Soreys main love interest role after being introduced as such to make way for Mikleo, courtesy of the fujoshi writer. A character named Rose was introduced to replace her as a female companion, but her character is underdeveloped as heck and as a result it makes her seems like a sociopath.

Whats with modern culture and its obscession with faggots and their unnatural ways?

Literally throwing faggotry in EVERYTHING, ruining what otherwise could be a great game with a great story.

I don't know about you, but the moment that a game/movie/cartoon/comic/anime has the main character, and in this case an expy of Jesus, be a faggot, I drop it at once.

I might be a little different from you, since I give fantasy series the benefit of the doubt, but I generally want that in these 'fantasies' there exists only One God, who is good, alongside his angels, and the demons on the other side. I dont really like paganism, but if the story is good, and has NO faggotry, I might try it, as long as the 'paganism' still has some biblical elements, like there being one Supreme God who is good.
