Is it bad that I grow up with and still love slasher movies? One of the few multiplayer games I still regularly play Is Dead by Daylight.)Which I been playing nonstop cause I always had a fascination with evil clowns for some reason.)

an easy rule of thumb for every believer who wants to be morally correct is to do everything for the Glory of God

if you find that video games detract from, or denigrate your relationship with God, then they are hardly glorifying to Him

but if you've done all that you can do for the Kingdom, and you need to unwind at the end of the day, and your favourite way to relax is to get spooped; then it is glorifying to your Father to thank him for his provision of FNAF and to enjoy such vidya in moderation

my question would be, how often do you read the Scriptures and do you allow computer games to get in the way of that?

see:

1 Corinthians 10:31

Colossians 3:17

I used to also be realy into violent movies, video games, music. After becoming Christian again, I kept all of these things for awhile as they felt like my identity (death metal guy). However over time I reached a point in my walk where I got rid of all of these things. Here’s why:

Matthew 6:22

“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. 23 But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!“

Jesus warns us about the things we set our eyes on. It has a deep impact on our psyche and subconscious. It affects us in ways we don’t understand.

God has also warned me very clearly and specifically, in prayer and meditation, about watching movies that feature demons, ghosts or anything demonic looking. These images call very dangerous things onto us. I believe these “clowns” you refer to are just the same.

1 Corinthians 10:31 and Colossians 3:17 are very important to help us discern these kind of things, but in this case, I advice you to read Psalms 11:5 as well.

Even though (and please correct me if I'm wrong) violence is never specifically called "a sin" in the Bible, God hates those who love it. If we play a violent game, or watch a violent movie/show, then we love violence. There's no other reason for us to partake in those activities. If we hated violence, as He hates it, we would be avoiding it instead of seeking it.

This applies to every sin. How do you think God feels if we play a game or watch a movie/show that glorifies fornication, or murder, or the occult, etc? I don't think He likes it. And yes, most games, music, movies, series & anime actually glorify these things, but this shouldn't be a surprise, given the fact that Satan is the god/prince of this world..

Now, coming back to 1 Corinthians 10:31 and Colossians 3:17, can we glorify God with these activities?

(Luke 14:33, Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:4-5)
