I'm not sure if this couldn't be answered in a few posts in a different thread, but I'd thought it would be an interesting topic for it's own.
Over the last few years, we've seen people becoming more and more unhinged over little things, generally on a global scale. It's been better in some places than others, but there is much chaos where there was not in the past. I'm personally curious if the current "mad passions" we see in people; the blasphemous behavior just for it's own sake (not even for secular political purposes), the mindless violence, and on, is due to possession. And if there's any research to back that up, or disprove it.
I remember at the end of the 90s, there were studies showing there had already been an 4-8x increase in possessions and demonic activity over a 30 year period spanning into the end of the decade. While I don't know the numbers now, I do know that the number of Christian faithful in general has declined in many areas. And also even more alarming, people willing to make pacts with evil powers for material gain, open veneration of Hellish forces in public (like that statue of Baphomet a few days ago). I suspect that figure on demonic activity has increased by a lot if a statue like that is allowed in the Deep South of all places, even if it was only for a short time, and I think that those powers could be influencing the overall situation I just described in the previous paragraph. I'd be happy - very much so - to be proved wrong with whatever information anyone has on hand, however.
