The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Funny story, /christian/ – Australian has a new Prime Minister. He's a Pentecostal Christian.

What do you think of that?

>Pentacostal

I'm so sorry, AusBros.

Haven't most of Australia's PMs been Christian? I know Julia Gillard is an atheist, but the rest seem to be some form of Christian. Though I'm a little surprised that there are any Pentecostals anywhere outside the US.

Huh, Turnbull got knifed in the back. Seems like it was once unusual for that to happen but it looks like it's the norm there these days. Well, let's see where this goes, outside of ALP taking over it could hardly be worse than his immediate predecessor/victim.

Rudd was an Anglican, Tony Abbott was a conservative Catholic, Malcolm Turnbull (the guy who got rolled) was a nominal Catholic

The most worrying part about all this is that Scott will be around nine months before we have ten years -- not even kidding -- of the gay/lesbian-dominated, politically correct, feminazi party in charge. #notmyLaborParty

Say goodbye to any chance a "religious freedoms" bill had of being enshrined in law for more than a couple of months before Penny Wong blows an eyeball in desperation to have it repealed.

Predictable, but I honestly expected more heart-on-sleeve, shrill Catholicisms in these responses.

Pathetic, /catholic/, just pathetic

>>691934

>Haven't most of Australia's PMs been Christian?

heh. I guess that really depends on your definition.

Tony's about the only one I remotely rate, aside from the new guy. I think even Howard was pretty nominal, but I guess that's just because any mere whiff of public Christianity gets the shrill PC crowd whipped into a crazed frenzy. So, none of our pollies dare even mention God.

>Though I'm a little surprised that there are any Pentecostals anywhere outside the US.

You Americans ought to look outside your front-door more often. Half of Brazil, Philippines, Africa are pentecostal of varying shades. SLIGHT exaggeration, but there is a shiptonne of them

>Kanna from Dragon Maid?

No one has any idea what you are talking about

Is this the guy who twitted a picture of Kanna from Dragon Maid?

>>692147

> No one has any idea what you are talking about

It was Clive Palmer who tweeted that picture. Clive is an oddball billionaire and political figure who probably wishes he was Trump. He's not PM and he has no chance of ever becoming PM, because he doesn't belong to either the Liberal National Party or the Labor Party.

>You Americans ought to look outside your front-door more often.

Oh, I do. It's more my ignorance about Pentecostals than it is about the world.

0160a4  No.692201

the news said he was a 'devout christian' what they exactly mean by that is another thing

098d2c  No.692321

>Pentecostal

He should use his charisma powers to shock the opposition and reinstate Christian positions like no abortion, no gun control, no sodomy, pro-Afrikaner refugee status.

Wong? I'm a bit out of date on Aussie politics, I thought Shorten was their man. Then again, considering he was having real trouble against Mal at times, if they dumped him I wouldn't be surprised…

>>692201

I'm a little concerned that Scott's insubstantial in multiple areas, there's rather a lot of LNP orbiters that give the US GOP a run for their money.

ba5975  No.694384

>>692120

Funny. Historically the Labor Prime Ministers have usually been Catholic (Irish) and the Liberal/Right-wing Prime Ministers have been Protestant (Anglo/Scot)

21e80f  No.694891

Australian here. I am skeptical of the degree to which he 'practices what he preaches'. His political party is one of greedy neocon businessmen-types, some of whom happen to have socially conservative views on some thing. I won't judge one way or another, but I have my doubts, and let's just see how things go.

>>691934

Yes, but for a public figure to be vocally and overtly Christian here is something that won't grant them any favours. PMs basically always avoid talking about Christianity or their personal religious views. Australia has a weird aversion to religion in public settings, no matter the context.
