The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Recently, when I was thinking about who to focus my prayers and evangelisation efforts on, I came to the conclusion, that of all people close to me, my grandmother is in the worst position. She is old and smoking, so she doesn't have much left and she is in no way ready to meet the Lord. I prayed for her today and decided to start visiting her, as I have neglected contact with her pretty much my whole life. The plan was to build up our relations and then, after some time, start discussing the faith.

When my father came back home, he said that he visited my grandma and told me how she was sad because of lack of our contact. He suggested that I should start visiting, which is exactly what I was planning to do anyway.

Could it be an answered prayer and a sign of approval of my plan, or am I looking for something that is not there? Because if it IS a sign from God, then I'm basicly obliged to go with it.

also, I would appreciate if you could pray for my grandmother and me

You're looking to do a good thing. Go for it.

I don't have enough expertise to be able to give you a clear guideline on how to differentiate between the two, but what I can tell you with certainty is that you should speak to her and preach God's Word.

If her heart is open, then it was definitely God who opened it. God and you both wish for her to be saved. You be His agent and may He fill your mouth with his Word and open up your grandmother's ears so that she may listen and repent from her sin.

I don't know how a person her age will be able to quit smoking now. I'm still fighting that battle myself and I'm young. But I pray that her heart will be with God after you speak to her.

In my opinion, this is an answered prayer.

I believe there are no coincidences, but trying to trace the origin of every single synchronicity will probably drive you mad.

I don't expect her to stop smoking but it's not what's important - at this point I only care about her soul, not her lungs.

Confirmed God. Praise Him and thank Him for this opportunity to serve Him and His Will.

You should ask your father what she likes - maybe some flowers or a pastry or whatever - bring it with you and arrive at her house unannounced, greeting her with a hug and a kiss. Make sure to tell her about how you prayed for her and was thinking about visiting her when you heard from your father that she felt the same way.

Focus on spending a good time with her and learn from her older perspective, and find out what you love about her. Loving her soul will be the only way you can save it.

When you are leaving, ask her to go to church with you next sunday. After you leave thank God again and continue praying for her and the whole family.

Im excited for you Anon, and I cant wait for you to succeed in the name of the Lord :^)
