No, many states used to give the death penalty in cases of rape; but that ended with Kennedy v. Louisiana in 2008. So it's not progressing towards more death penalty, but less.

I tend to deal with the world as it is, not how I want it to be. Even if I wanted to give child molesters the death penalty, the law says it ain't gonna happen no matter how much I click my heels together and wish for it.
