Guys how have you defeated gluttony? This sin is beginning to take me once again, and JUST after God showed me the way to permanently defeat lust and then the meaning of celibacy, marriage, and other stuff like that. I'm thinking of going vegetarian with no snacks, pops, juices, eating inbetween meals, and little to no seasonings. I know some Stoic philosophers did this and many others to curb gluttony. Any methods you have tried and used to defeat this? Tips? Please tell

I don't know about vegetarian but definitely no dyes, corn syrups, artificial sweeteners, avoid anything processed as much as possible. For cereals and bread, make sure their whole grain, oats, bran flakes, cheerios are okay. I think sugar is fine in limited amounts. Definitely no pop or candy. I use dark chocolate when I'm craving sweets. If i'm craving a pastry I eat a yam or bread with peanut butter and honey on top. Also log when you do eat something unhealthy and how you feel afterwards. Recognize that it is a cycle and we're living in a world trying to make us believe food and sex are our gods. Get educated on the food industry and the things junk food does tha wa you know why you crave junk food Awarness helps. But most of all pray and read your bible. Trust God.

If you go vegetarian be sure to supplement your protein with whey and milk.

Just don't go vegan, or use soy. I did my first year of orthodoxy and it was horrid.

asides from…ab bit autistic posts here already, I advice you to fast. Refrain from eating animal products on Wednesdays and Fridays. Its a good start. After you get accustomed to that, observe whole lents, instead of only two days above. Also avoid junk foods and eating past 8 or 9. The latter not as much against gluttony as for health in general

don't go vegetarian, it's very stupid. i can give you an easy way to break it, if you just follow this with determination. firstly you need whey protein powder. buy something good that mixes well and get a bunch of it. also get metamucil, the dissolvable drink kind (not sure if there is another).

the rest is easy. simply just eat one meal a day, and then you can have up to two protein shakes (2 scoops) and a metamucil if you want (for hunger, also good for your digestion/fiber). this is actually a proper fast. the shakes throughout the day will help with the hunger and it's not that bad. you can eat whatever you like for your one meal, but just don't stuff yourself. just eat a reasonable amount. this is actually even a valid fast, and you will still feel hungry of course but you have to offer that for god. your appetite will reduce, you'll lose weight, you'll actually see yourself looking pretty good because you have good protein intake and low calories, you'll lose fat and keep most of the muscle you have, you'll get lean.

you just have to accept you will be somewhat hungry but it won't be that bad and offer whatever it is to God.

Eat foods that take up space in your stomach - apples (all starchy fruits are good), popcorn etc.

You also want to slowly reduce your caloric intake as to not crash your system. Get an app like myfitnesspal (it might be stealing your data but you only need it for a few weeks) to measure your intake and simply reduce it by 100 or 200 calories. Once you are comfortable, reduce it again. The other benefit is that you can check food *before* eating it - sometimes seeing that a McDonalds icecream is 500 calories will shock you into not eating it.

Go outside and walk around and do stuff, and when you do eat, make it non processed pork, it has the biggest satiation factor, especially if it's got pork fat, too.
