Friends, how do I respond to shitlib atheists who claim the OT God is "ebil". They usually cite the episodes of the Canaanites, and Isaac and Abraham. Patristic commentaries, theology, etc are all welcome as well as how to respond to other claims regarding the existence of evil.

They're void of judgement. Not perceiving the fact God is due all things. Even with the best explanation of those things they would find another thing to attack immediately. It's best not to try to explain the finer points with them unless you think that might change. To put it another way, their whole approach is wrong, you can't operate as if it was right and only needed minor correction on a specific point of exegesis.
