The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

>Gospel, Mark 5:21-43

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom." (Matthew 26:26-29)

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. (Mark 16:1-8)

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 20:7)

Happy Sunday, OP. Going to Mass soon to worship the Lord and partake of him.

1838f5 No.668831

Since this thread is here, I'll go ahead and post. I'm at work right now. Is this sinful, or would God understand if I'm a little tight for cash.

>>668831

Of course he would. Keep it holy, don't do anything truly sinful and make sure to relax and worship the Lord when you get back home tonight. Jesus never shied away from putting in labor on the Sabbath.

>>668831

Christ willingly worked on the Sabbath. >>668836 is correct, try and keep God in your thoughts and actions while working, if you must work on the Sabbath.

Ave Christus Rex

Guys do you know if its okay in the Catholic Church to go on Saturday instead of Sunday? I want to a 5:00 mass yesterday and I'm pretty sure it counts, but are you technically supposed to go on Sunday too?

b6dc0b No.668848

>>668844

These days? It's good that you go to Church at all.

We had a speaker today that came from one of the poorest sections of our diocese, right on the border of West Virginia in Appalachia

Was business as usual otherwise.

The preacher talked about suffering today. Apparently he admitted he could not explain why we suffer. At least he is honest.

Went to church on my own for the first time (Roman Catholic). I'm not sure if I am in the right church or not.

They have a weekly schedule of activities, and in the back are advertisements for local businesses/liquor stores/restaurants. I am not sure if this goes against the part of the bible that says not to sell things in Church, but I was not comfortable about that.

It was hot out, so people were wearing shorts and t shirts. Some of them had colored hair. I went in short jeans and a polo t shirt because I wasn't thinking.

There were signs and such that encouraged bringing in more disciples. I know the lord would want more people to follow His teachings, but I feel as if forcing religion on someone is a good way to make them avoid it.

My grandma's remains are at this church's graveyard, so I got to see her again and thank God for letting her be in Heaven and giving me a second chance to see her.

I feel more faith, but I don't know if I feel any more comfortable than I was before I went.

I went to an Orthodox service for the first time today.

It was an overall pleasant experience. I really enjoyed it, but when it was over the anxiety of talking to so many new people got the best of me and I bolted for the door.

How familiar are you with the history of the Church? Do you know about Vatican II?

I was raised Catholic, left and became a fedora, but over the past year I've been coming back to Christianity and am likely going to become Catholic again. I've been reading up on a lot of it and the amount of stuff that's been changed is staggering, which is why I'm considering joining the SSPX or some other traditionalist leaning set of churches.

f114bd No.668930

>>668929

I am not familiar outside of a college class I took on the new testament, taught by a preacher. When I say 'went to the right church' I mean the actual church, not the religion, so I apologize for the confusion. Also, what is the SSPX?

I worry that going to a different Roman Catholic church would make me even more nervous, as they would interpret the Bible in a different way, causing me more stress.
