^This. It's basically narcissism. Trying to make themselves feel more special than they actually are with as little effort as possible. It's a lot easier to put on clown makeup and be a "Satanist" than it is to become a doctor and cure cancer, or volunteer one's time for those in need. In other words, like literally every youth subculture that has ever existed (punk, raver, goth, emo, metal, hippie, hipster, juggalo, etc.) Reminds me of when me and my friends were pagan LARPers to be sadly honest.
What's really worrisome is that the individuals in these photos look like they are in their late 30s, 40s or even 50s, and have not outgrown this phase. They really need our prayers.
