The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Something that combines what all the denominations have in common. My idea is that if everyone agrees for sure on something for 2000 years then that must be the truth.

protestants and apostolics don't agree on how people are saved so you'd be at a stump right there.

Thats impossible. But if you want a mix of Protestanism and Cathodox i suggest Anglicanism or Conservative Methodism

I'm sorry but Anglicanism just disqualified itself - like several other protestant denominations - with "gay ""marriage""", woman "priests" etc.. Even a sane protestant will see that this feelgood kinda "everyone is welcome and welcome to practice whatever they want" pseudo-theology is nuts (I mean …. even for protestant standards).

This just seems hilarious to me.

>Here is the Eucharist; Christ has a real presence in it, but don't take that too seriously, because that's just a metaphor

>Here are the icons, every Wednesday we burn every single one in the church. Every Monday we resupply.

>The Holy Virgin Mary is the Theotokos and should be properly respected as the Mother of God…Just kidding, she's just some random girl. Pay no mind.

Lutherans and Anglicans. Confessional Lutherans are more conservative than the main church.

The Mar Thoma Church is a church of West Syriac tradition that is in Anglican communion.

Also Nestorians maybe indirectly

From Rome's Fall by Eddy Gibbs

"Their religion would have rendered them the firmest and most cordial allies of the Portuguese; but the inquisitors soon discerned in the Christians of St. Thomas the unpardonable guilt of heresy and schism. Instead of owning themselves the subjects of the Roman pontiff, the spiritual and temporal monarch of the globe, they adhered, like their ancestors, to the communion of the Nestorian patriarch; and the bishops whom he ordained at Mosul, traversed the dangers of the sea and land to reach their diocese on the coast of Malabar. In their Syriac liturgy the names of Theodore and Nestorius were piously commemorated: they united their adoration of the two persons of Christ; the title of Mother of God was offensive to their ear, and they measured with scrupulous avarice the honors of the Virgin Mary, whom the superstition of the Latins had almost exalted to the rank of a goddess. When her image was first presented to the disciples of St. Thomas, they indignantly exclaimed, "We are Christians, not idolaters!" and their simple devotion was content with the veneration of the cross. Their separation from the Western world had left them in ignorance of the improvements, or corruptions, of a thousand years; and their conformity with the faith and practice of the fifth century would equally disappoint the prejudices of a Papist or a Protestant."

The Moravian Church is another Protestant church that isn't mentioned as often and is affiliated with Lutheranism. Reportedly absorbed the remnants of Hussitism.

>here is the Eucharist, this a metaphor as clearly shown by a series of Jewish guys not losing their minds at being told to eat human flesh and blood

>also, it clearly didn't transform into such on that first occasion

>here's some pretty paintings, don't worship them

>this is Mary, the God-bearer who served as mother to the Lord, she was blessed but nothing more than that, lest you start some nonsense about Enoch or Elijah too. Don't worship her either.

Conservative Anglicans. They still use Catholic liturgy and believe in Transubstantiation but they might believe in faith alone and sola scriptura and reject the Pope.

>Something that combines what all the denominations have in common.

Well, you have to wait a little untill Antichrist comes. His religion is going to combine something of everything.

Pray for strong faith in God. Not of some abstract faith as in "I know He exists" but a living faith as in "I believe in You". If You say that you are with your disciples and that they are one with you, then this must be so. To anyone who has a true faith in Gods goodness it becomes obvous that the must be One Real Church of God on Earth.

So the only thing you have to do is to search for it. If you are humble, you will find easily the real Church. Only if you are haughty, you can be deceived.

What counts as a 'core concept?'

I'd say the 'core concepts of all denomination' are the very things which make us categorise them as denominations of the Christian religion, rather than any other religion. If a denomination loses too many of the 'core concepts,' we start to say that it isn't Christian but something else instead. According to that picture, each denomation already has the core concepts of all the others by default.

Perhaps you mean that the 'core concepts' are the fundamental points at issue between the denominations (the filioque, the real presence, sola scriptura, etc.). In that case you could not possibly have a denomination which combines those 'core concepts' since those concepts contradict each other.

It seems that what you're looking for is some kind of diluted blancmange of Christianity which is deliberately vague so as to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. This would be a ludicrous idea because it would mean that there was almost nothing concrete you could say. This is the main reason why I dislike ecumenicism, and why its fruits can be nothing but widespread dissatisfaction and further splintering.
