The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Who are the GK Chestertons or CS Lewises of Eastern Orthodoxy? I like reading these Anglos but want something closer to home.

I know Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy was a heretic.

What's wrong with Rose, aside from the toll houses?

These are the only guys i know so far that have interesting works. Read Rose's book on the soul after death interesting read. Not sure about toll houses being new, but i liked how it refuted a lot of new age bs, took, hits on some eastern faiths and why reincarnation is faulty. And rightly makes fun of modern secular science by showing that outright in their investigation of Nde's they end up taking notes from the Tibetan book of the dead, occult literature, etc. So much for secular science. Also i learned that ancient pagan beliefs in Europe taught forms of reincarnation prior to being overtaken by the new unique christian belief system as genuinely found out reading about ancient christian(s) outlooks on death. Sorry for semi blog posting but, an interesting read, on the orthodox ancient outlook on death. I look forward to his other books there's one about nihilism that i want to pick up from him.

He basically reads as a massive conspiracy theorist, has very rigid and self-righteous tone, but whats more important is that he actually concentrates quite less on actual theology, unlike authors listed in OP.

Of course, he also has nice works here and there, particular refuting eastern garbage like hinduism (but at the same time propagating gnostic garbage such as toll houses in other)

But in general, not a great theologian. Lossky concentrates on actual relevant theology more, such as theosis.

There's a book called 'Sayings of The Desert Fathers', very much guidance. Very good.

Anathema! Father Seraphim of blessed memory is essential for understanding modern times

I find Dyer to be a massive narcissist, even if he's good for explaining, defending, and propogating Orthodox theology online.

Check his twitter page, he's always gloating and calling attention to people praising him.
