Hello /christian/ 8ch, recently i'm now a former atheist, but in some times, i've been in denial if god is real or not. What worries me most is that I may not meet my loved ones again after they die. I value my loved ones deeply. It saddens me that I can't spend every second of my life with them. Now want an assurance that there is an afterlife. I've heard that if you were cleared of sin you would enter heaven, I promise to die in a chapel to be cleansed of my sins. Please help me live my life without having to worry about these thoughts.

You'll meet your loved ones, so you can stop worrying about it (even if you take protie tier literal approach, damned and saints still have relations with eachother like in story of rich man and Lazarus). The other thing is that…well… whether you or they will enjoy seeing eachother. If damned, they will in theory at least, be quite hateful to put it in a mild way.

But in general, main thing is that you'll enjoy being with God, our heavenly father and that will and should be enough for everyone.

Plus, think of it this way OP: if no one close to you in this world makes it, everyone you meet in Heaven will love you as God does. You will be more loved there than you ever can be here. Not just children of Adam, the angels as well. The "Love Feasts" of the early Church, with everyone enjoying a meal as a huge adoptive family, are just a dim reflection of what's to come.

After life is one of two, basically. It's either beatific vision or lack of it. Beatific Vision is attained in Heaven by sheer fact of "seeing" Essence of God. And as name suggest, Beatific Vision is ultimate and absolute happiness. Even if you would not see your loved ones (which is probable, majority of people are not saved, sadlly) you would still be upmost happy.

I would just start out question if basic non belief even has any ground to stand on which i think vid related C.S Lewis completely dismantles, in, this talk. But there are other good points he makes in his books which is where i would start.

Well yeah. It's about parable regarding disbelief and accurate description of afterlife isn't really a top priority. What I said mostly comes from patristics, like st Macarius of Egypt, but Catholics such as Thomas Aquinas also stated similar things. I may be wrong, but theory in general exists as it is.
