The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

So I was wondering about the soul at conception and came with

1: Does the soul get bestowed at conception or at a later date.

2: How is the soul bestowed on the foetus? What I mean is does God himself personally bestow a certain soul to a certain body and if so does that mean God damns people? Like does God bestow personally a soul to Iran and hence decrease the likelihood of that soul becoming Christian?

It is a mystery.

Conception.

It's not important "how" it happens.

God doesn't need to damn anyone. We do it ourselves.

>He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (Jn 3:18)

>Like does God bestow personally a soul to Iran and hence decrease the likelihood of that soul becoming Christian?

I think you are throwing up an disingenuous "gotcha" here. Do you honestly think that most people in Christian countries find Him in their lives? If so, do you think they are able to persevere until the end?

Everyone has the potential to find Him in life, but few do. Some people have the privilege of being born to Christian families, or even in Christian nations, but many again fall away through apathy or hatred. Since there are no actual Christian nations anymore someone born in Berlin or London of Madrid has odds-on the same chance of salvation as someone born in Tehran or Outer Mongola. In fact the lattermost has prbably the best chance since his presumed lack of access or total (and thus invincible) ignorance would stand him in better stead than someone who is raised in a "Christian" country but totally rejects the Faith.

This is not a gotcha at all, I'm a Christian and after abortion got legalised in Ireland it led me to reflect more of the souls of the unborn.

Thanks for the reply though.

What do you think will happen to the unborn at the resurrection? I'm assuming they'll be resurrected as fully grown humans.

Sorry I thought you might have been concern trolling. Please forgive me.

I'm not sure, and the official belief of the Church on this is essentially "We don't know but hope for the best anyway". It used to be they'd go to the Limbo of the Infants, or they may even be able to witness the Beatific Vision in infant form for all eternity. We are born in original sin but we don't actually start to know what we are doing wrong until the age of about 7, and before this a child can't really commit sin in the same way an adult can.

I remember reading about a kind of laybelief that existed for a while that said that the souls of aborted infants would spend eternity in hell, not as a punishment to themselves, but as a punishment against their mothers.

Sorry, I should clarify: the mother would be in hell with the child, and be forced to confront her evil deed, being tormented with it for eternity.

as soon as the spermatozoide unites with the ovum, BOOM, human being. Soul included.

>what is the mechanism through which the soul enters the body?

God knows

>1: Does the soul get bestowed at conception or at a later date.

From conception. See Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:44.

>2: How is the soul bestowed on the [person]?

Through the aid of the Holy Spirit, both by God direct hand and through the sexual union of the hopefully married couple. That's as far as God explains it. The rest is mystery and it's a beautiful mystery to be honest. See Malachi 2:15 with the Psalm and Jeremiah passages.

Bestowed? It would need to be created or at least memory wiped if souls have indeed the capability of a non corporal life, like the one in hell or heaven.

But nobody has any recollection of that before birth.
