The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Is there a more satanic book than this one? I don't think there's anything that even comes close in causing so much death, hate and people turning their back to Christ. I am convinced that Heinrich Kramer was possessed when he wrote it.

I mean, jokes about politics, porn or some Bible translation you dislike aside, I truly think this book was one of the most vile texts ever created.

what was wrong with it?

There's a very very high chances that many many people, includin you OP, haven't even read it.

Mainly that it helped to spread the superstition of "witchcraft" as an accusation.

I think he means cruxible style paranoia and the innocent lives lost to it, not witchcraft no real.

The paranoid superstitious Christian of the past looking for witchcraft and demons in every little thing is a modern secular myth. Like the Inquisitions, real inquiry and investigations were done and if someone was sentenced to death, then there was very likely strong evidence of their crimes against mens' souls. Another dumb myth is that the perpetrators were burned, rather than just hung.

The problem with Malleus Maleficarum is that it doesn't use rigorous investigations. I believe the Calothic author was in fact condemned by the Church as a heretic.

Now, don't confuse things. The Inquisition wnt after actual heretics, those that tried to twist the words of God, Muslims and Jews that merely pretended to convert while practicing their false religions in secret and things like that. The real inquisition was nothing like the witch trials, which were based on nothing but fear and superstition.

>>652438

I sure did. Sorcery is mentioned and it is punishable by death. This is what Kramer based his lies on.

I believe that there's people that attained special powers by making deals with the devil. But here's the truth: The devil cannot perform miracles. He can trade and he can deceive but he can't perform the wonders that are described as "witchcraft".

Did you even read up on the author's biography and the publishing history of that book? Look up Heinrich Kramer/Henricus Institoris. He spread fear and hate amongst the public to achieve his goals, he literally faked documents to get his book published and authorized, he even got rebuked for his deeds by Church authorities multiple times.

>>652457

True. I didn't read those but I assume that those are actual valid writings about real heretics.

Kramer was appointed as inquisitor.

The papal bull Summis desiderantes which Pope Innocent VIII published in 1484 acknowledges the existence of witches and explicitly empowers the inquisition to prosecute witches and sorcerers. This bull was incorporated in Kramer's book Malleus Maleficarum (literally "The Hammer of Witches") which was first published in 1487 and became very influential in endorsing the fight against witches.

Kramer failed in his attempt to obtain endorsement for this work from the top theologians of the Inquisition at the Faculty of Cologne, and they condemned the book as recommending unethical and illegal procedures, as well as being inconsistent with Catholic doctrines of demonology.[4]

In 1500 he was empowered to proceed against the Waldensians and Picards.

I only see there were problems with the book itself, but Kramer was not branded a heretic.

Oh no. A few thousand people were executed centuries ago in the Early Modern Era when people were still hanged for shoplifting. "My Twisted World" will probably end up "killing" more people in the long run than this book ever did. Enlightenment propagandists seized on the witch hunts to defame Christianity while at the same time beheading people by the tens of thousands in the name of reason. And then the 20th century happened and they really got going. Go figure.

Demons have supernatural powers. The Bible describes them performing "miracles."

Yes the Quran

Yeah I remember being shocked to learn that the Inquisition at most was responsible for 3000 deaths. Now obviously if some of those people were innocent as I imagine some were than that is a travesty but compare those 3000 souls to any number of modern (frequently secular) atrocities and they amount to a drop in a bucket.
