Note that Aquinas' arguments and terminology are notoriously hard to understand correctly for moderns and it's extremely easy to misinterpret them (indeed, I don't think I've seen anyone including myself understand them correctly on the first try).
Instead of reading Aquinas directly, a beginner should rather read some contemporary Thomist explaining his thought. Feser is the most popular one today, and for a good reason, he really can explain the arguments in a clear and coherent way. I'd advise his Aquinas: A Beginner's Guide.
