The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

For some time I've been thinking of learning gregorian chant. However, as far as I know, nobody teaches it in my hometown or near b.

So, I've been thinking of learning it on the Internet but I don't know if it is possible, how hard it is and where can I find the resources to learn it.

Has anyone learn it on the Internet??

Are you already in a 3 part choir

I haven't checked but there probably are tutorials on YouTube. My father's learned on his own anyway.

Was it hard? I've never studied music.

There's not much to learn. The notation is a little different, but if you can read modern music notation learning Gregorian isn't hard at all.

There are no unique techniques to singing it other than Latin pronounciation.

I'll post some beginner stuff when I get home.

Pretty nice to chant when you're on a walk to meditate on the Lord and learn a new language simultaneously.

But I would like to learn the notation.

I learned Gregorian chant in an abbey, loved every step of it even though I am a terrible singer.

As others have said: there is nothing to it. Learn to read the notes and listen to others sing it. Ont line of advice we received: never be discouraged. Pop music is specifically made for one artists voice. Gregorian chant is a thing you have to do in group! It's a way of singing that is open to every type of voice, but doing it alone will probably give you very little satisfaction.

I cantor Gregorian chant. Buy a copy of the graduale romanum, check if the day is a feast day for a saint (it says in the propriae sanctae) or if not just do the ordinary propers of the hebdomada (week). Introit is sung when the bell rings, gradual is sung at the psalm, and the rest are self evident. C clef is the two dots which surround the note C. It is just a c major scale (all white notes on piano) with the occasional b flat. The other clef is F clef. Just google the notation there are guides but its simpler than you think.

Just learn to sing the common chants (use online recordings to help) and learn the notation until you find a choir. Also there are different schools of thought about how Gregorian chant should be sung, so don't get boxed into thinking there's only one way.
