Why do fedoras say the laws of the Pentateuch are just as bad as Islamic sharia? They aren't. Don't get me wrong, some of the laws can be pretty "harsh" (to use fedora terms), but they're actually pretty winnie the pooh generous compared to the kind of shit you find in Sharia. As least the laws of the Pentateuch make sense. Sharia law is complete winnie the pooh insanity. The Law of Moses isn't oppressive (in the civil sense not the spiritual sense). Sharia is.

Sharia was specifically designed to justify their taxation scheme during the expansionist era of the Arab empires. Theological consistency was not its objective.

I mean, just look at the rights of women in the Mosaic law. Actual legal process for divorce, monetary compensation, and only with good reason, like adultery. Compare that to the Koran: no reason whatsoever needed, and the husband just has to say "I divorce you" 3 times.
