I've browsed the catalog several times and for the life of me I don't think this has been discussed yet.

So calling all Caths, Orthos, and Baptists. Is there a difference? Who is the real heretic? Because, tbh 1st pic related makes waaaay more sense than the Roman trinity (2nd pic related)

Well no it doesn't, because all 3 are referred to as God, as well as separate persons. Your hands are not separate persons, are they?

The Godhead is the Trinity, although both terms are trash and all should use the Divinity (as St. Paul does). Also, in the Divinity, the Father begets the Logos and the Spirit flows from from the Father through the Logos. It's that simple. Don't be a heretic, accept the Divine and the three persons that make it.

I rather doubt either image was crafted in opposition to the other. If anything I would say that the second image, which fits with the Biblical description of the one God the Father and one Lord Jesus Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father, is the better one. The first image could be interpreted in a Sabellian way.

Sort of. The Latin term corresponding to KJV "Godhead" is Divinitas.

<quia in ipso inhabitat omnis plenitudo divinitatis corporaliter

The term Trinitas just means Triad (which is the Greek term), referring to the three persons. They both ultimately refer to the same thing.

One on the left is heretical because it subjugates the Son and the Holy Spirit to the Father.

One on the right is blasphemous because it violates Deuteronomy 4:15-19.

ce030a No.639023

The one on the right is heretical because the Father never became incarnate and therefore cannot be depicted. Basic stuff if you read some St. John of Damascus

The "hands of God" idea isn't a fantastic way to understand the trinity, but at least it does away with filioque autism.

You shouldn't be making all these threads on the most holy Trinity. It's the precursor for people spreading heresy - even if in good faith - because the Trinity is LITERALLY THE BIGGEST MYSTERY of the Christian faith and unless you're well learned and studied theologian, you should leave it to what you can read in the Catechism and not encourage people to "explain" it that simply aren't able to.

You only need to know that The Father begets, not creates, the Son and both spirate the Holy Spirit. Contemplate this, the rest might or might not come later on in this life.

No denom rage now, the Filioque was always there, in the West as well as in the East and with the Church Fathers.

Show me where an early church father actually said that the double procession of the holy spirit is a thing.

Nobody used to think in such rationalistic terms about something fundamentally beyond human comprehension.

<This whole thread is heresy for all we know

b696c4 No.639053

This thread is "heresy" in the sense that we can't understand The Absolute at all in actuality. Assuming the Logos is incarnated as a man once, assuming humanity brought sin into creation alone, assuming that The Absolute is three beings in one only, assuming our redemption and assimilation with The Absolute is the most important thing ever, and not just a small side-project for Him. Lots of that. We know nothing except what is revealed in the scriptures and the tradition and the Church, and nothing much. It can never be rationalized. We are just too pathetic.

All three Persons are fully God.
