Can any dutch bros shed light on this place? I have dutch heritage and I was wondering if it would be a nice place to study, work, get married and spend my life at?

Are people there actually religious or is it just the older generations?

Be a person that's straight out of the Bible, not out of the Bible belt.

There's a Dutch bible belt of reformed Christians. The Reformed branch is big in the Netherlands but the most extreme are the Orthodox reformed or what other Christians like to call, The Black stockings.

They're the amish of the Netherlands. They make Fundemental KJV Baptist look lukewarm. Many of them don't take vaccinations. Their life is depressing. Someone wrote a book about this Reformed woman who was dying on her deathbed. Her husband was sitting in a corner and was forbidden to come near her as the man wasn't part of the elected and the woman was.

>Their life is depressing

Go on.

>Her husband was sitting in a corner and was forbidden to come near her as the man wasn't part of the elected and the woman was.

How do they determine such things?

>How do they determine such things?

By how much someone agrees with Calvin (pbuh).

Don't know how the American one is but the Dutch bible belt is a bit of a joke.

Except for a handful of municipalities none has a majority of christians of whatever sect be it protestant or catholic.

The bible belt is called that because it's in comparison to the rest of the godless Lowlands.

I remember a Dutch guy (catholic though, just like me) saying that out of the 125 classic reformed churches (former catholic ones) in Friesland only 4 or so are still in use.

>How do they determine such things?

So far I know they used to do this by looking how well going your life is/was which would be an indication that God elected you.

>how well going your life is/was

In what sense?

If you were rich, healthy, blessed in general.

This is the reason why calvinism got a such a good hold in the Netherlands (specifically the mid to upper United Provinces).

Lot's of middle class merchants having a good life, no problem convincing them that they'd go to heaven.

So the general consensus is that it's really not a great place

I can't find a single young lady in that entire crowd. And as expected, it's mostly old people who failed to pass on their religion just like every other church in the world.
