I am a history student, I wish to be a historian one day. I have applied for a placement doing some research for one of my professors. He does modern religious history, although being a card carrying humanist himself. The placement would see me investigate how churches and councils in a certain city attempted to regulate the change in moral behaviour of the local population during the 40s to 80s by say trying banning certain music or advertisements ect ect
I'd like to do this as I think it would one: be interesting and two: really further my career. BUT I in no way would want to contribute to something that could harm the church. So im in a bind. Of course just finding history is not bad in its self , Christians have done bad and cringey things throughout history and what to say regulating certain materiel is bad (that subjective) but I dont like the idea of this being used against us. and yet, the truth is the truth.
I wish to go on an study the recent changes in my cultures morality over the past 100 years through a conservative viewpoint , but of course I could not do that here.
so yeah thats it , an odd one but id like to hear what you think.
