Why would I get along with them? Sure, they may make sense, but in the end all any of this is is vying for power, and I'm not a woman so if they came to power it sure as deuce doesn't benefit me; may even harm me in the long run.

As for the church, if the church is following Christ's teachings, He very specifically stated "My Kingdom is not of this world," which can only realistically mean He doesn't play these little power games, and warns others against doing the same.
