How many of you here are Bible Study Group > church? Maybe it is because I am in Murcia and only been to Protestant churches but from my experiences churches tend to either do sermon subjects based on the lowest common denominator (aka "Jesus loves you" messages) or try to justify their contemporary opinions with Bible verses which sometimes takes them out of context and if the pastor got something wrong you either have to call him out right then and there in an all or nothing reputational debate or argument or talk to him privately which gives him the opportunity to be a jack-hole to you about it or he will try to pretend that your corrections were his all along when he comes up on stage next time while in most Bible Study Groups I find of them to be a lot more open for discussion and debate and questioning and very little time I ever encounter ever needing to go through basic information that would been bludgeoned into your head if you had been a Christian for long enough
