How is a god good who is willing to torture anyone, ever? Or how is a god who doesn't do this a christian god?

How is it evil to demand evidence before you believe in something?

Pascal's wager can literally be used to justify anything. For example there is a gnome in your closet who will murder you unless you believe in him without looking and give you a million dollars if you do. How do you justify belief in a supernatural entity without resorting to this faulty logic?

Why would a just god give people desires and then punish them for acting on those desires?

Why does science disprove every literal interpretation of the bible, which are all metaphorical except for the few areas not yet touched by science, which are all to be taken literally?

How is it good, just, or even acceptable to punish someone for what his grandfather did?

How is it good, or even acceptable, to punish a man for what his neighbor does, as when God destroys whole cities?

How is it good, or even acceptable to have your people infiltrate and then murder the men of a neighboring nation, taking their wives and daughters as sex slaves?

How is it that modern Christian morality contradicts the parts of the bible that society has advanced beyond, such as hating gay people, not eating pig meat, and giving a literal 10% of one's income to the church?

You are an unbelievable faggot. I believe in a literal devil, but I don't believe someone as faggy as you can exist. May God have mercy on your soul.

At this level of reddit, that’s the best response this thread is gonna get. The OP sounds like a copypasta anyway

We all deserve hell (you as well), what God gives he freely takes away and you aren't entitled to a single thing. Why do you deserve anything, any goodness at all? God has given you so much already, what gratitude have you shown? Who do you thank for all the goodness you do have now? Why you deserve any of it, have you done something to even merit your own existence?

Most of your questions are nonsense no one who has actually looked into the topic would ask, the two videos I linked are good introduction lectures you might find interesting.

You seem to have the kind of elementary knowledge of Christianity I normally expect from insular, atheistic echo chambers. It would take a wall of text big enough to shame Trump to address even half of what you said, most of which was addressed in the writings of the early church or even the New Testament. I wouldn't expect anybody on this board to take the time and space necessary to walk you through 2000 years of deep, theological study when it appears you lack the initiative to read even the book of Acts. Honestly, I love answering these questions, as apologetics is a calling of all Christians, bur you have to at least have a baseline of knowledge before you try to read the riot act on this. Try asking unrelated questions in separate threads and also do some research to see if your question has been answered already.

>how is a god good who is willing to torture anyone, ever?

Suffering is not intrinsically evil for Christians. In fact, suffering is a key way for someone to achieve greater glory. St. Ignatius of Antioch is a great read, since he felt sorry for those who were not going to be tortured and executed with him.

>How is it evil to demand evidence before you believe in something?

It isn't. Our entire belief comes from being presented with the timeless evidence of the resurrection. That is, the testimonies of the apostles. If you read the new testament, at one point it just straight list a bunch of eye witness for you to go talk to. These people paid for their testimony with their lives, never recanting.

For more modern stuff, we have miracles that testify to it.

>Pascal's wager can literally be used to justify anything.

No it can only be used to justify something in which one position gains you nothing and the other position gains you everything. Beyond that, almost 0 people base their faith on pascals wager because it is disingenuous. "Playing the odds" is not what we want.

If you want good logic, there is 2500 years of rationalistic philosophy that is impeccable backing up belief in God and the supernatural. No doubt we can go into that more deeply if you wanted.

>Why would a just god give people desires and then punish them for acting on those desires?

God didn't give man concupiscence.

>Why does science disprove every literal interpretation of the bible, which are all metaphorical except for the few areas not yet touched by science, which are all to be taken literally?

Literally not the case, ever.

>How is it good, just, or even acceptable to punish someone for what his grandfather did?

We don't.

>How is it good, or even acceptable, to punish a man for what his neighbor does, as when God destroys whole cities?

God saved the righteous people when they were present. Specifically it goes into how each time this happens.

>How is it good, or even acceptable to have your people infiltrate and then murder the men of a neighboring nation, taking their wives and daughters as sex slaves?

Which part are you referencing specifically?

>How is it that modern Christian morality contradicts the parts of the bible that society has advanced beyond, such as hating gay people, not eating pig meat, and giving a literal 10% of one's income to the church?

We having "advanced", we've degenerated. Pagans indulge in perverse sexual fetishes like homosexuality. The dietary laws have important spiritual significance that is more complex than a one sentence answer, but we can go into those too. It is still pious to tithe and you should support the Church financially if you can.

Let me one up you with Barnabas.

Chapter 10

>Now, wherefore did Moses say, "You shall not eat the swine, nor the eagle, nor the hawk, nor the raven, nor any fish which is not possessed of scales?" He embraced three doctrines in his mind [in doing so]. Moreover, the Lord says to them in Deuteronomy, "And I will establish my ordinances among this people." Deuteronomy 4:1 Is there then not a command of God they should not eat [these things]? There is, but Moses spoke with a spiritual reference. For this reason he named the swine, as much as to say, "You shall not join yourself to men who resemble swine." For when they live in pleasure, they forget their Lord; but when they come to want, they acknowledge the Lord. And [in like manner] the swine, when it has eaten, does not recognize its master; but when hungry it cries out, and on receiving food is quiet again.

>Moses then issued three doctrines concerning meats with a spiritual significance; but they received them according to fleshly desire, as if he had merely spoken of [literal] meats. David, however, comprehends the knowledge of the three doctrines, and speaks in like manner: "Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly," even as the fishes [referred to] go in darkness to the depths [of the sea]; "and has not stood in the way of sinners," even as those who profess to fear the Lord, but go astray like swine; "and has not sat in the seat of scorners," even as those birds that lie in wait for prey. Take a full and firm grasp of this spiritual knowledge.

>But Moses says still further, "You shall eat every animal that is cloven-footed and ruminant." What does he mean? [The ruminant animal denotes him] who, on receiving food, recognizes Him that nourishes him, and being satisfied by Him, is visibly made glad. Well spoke [Moses], having respect to the commandment. What, then, does he mean? That we ought to join ourselves to those that fear the Lord, those who meditate in their heart on the commandment which they have received, those who both utter the judgments of the Lord and observe them, those who know that meditation is a work of gladness, and who ruminate upon the word of the Lord. But what means the cloven-footed? That the righteous man also walks in this world, yet looks forward to the holy state [to come]. Behold how well Moses legislated. But how was it possible for them to understand or comprehend these things? We then, rightly understanding his commandments, explain them as the Lord intended. For this purpose He circumcised our ears and our hearts, that we might understand these things.

>>How is it good, just, or even acceptable to punish someone for what his grandfather did?

>We don't.

We do (or, God does or atleast permits it) , their called generational spirits, the fall itself could fall under this idea as well.

and the thing is that's how reality works

A grandfather can get a disease and give it to his kids, his bad decisions effect his family a massive amount.

You can dislike being punished for things your parents/grandparents/ancestors did but that's literally just how reality functions.

just because i dont understand why God makes the decisions he makes doesnt mean i shouldnt follow them. do you have any idea how inteligence an omnipotent omnipresent all-powerful all-knowing omni-everything God is?

do you have any idea how competent a God is at ANYTHING imagineable? to question God's judgement is such a condescending insult

the question is what is the correct interpretation of the bible and after that we simply have to follow it, thats it
