Hello. This is both a religious and political question, but I am going to ask my fellow Christians this rather than my fellow countrymen since they all have their own agendas. I'll keep this short.
I'm a Lebanese Christian, a Maronite East Catholic. My people were once the sole leaders of Christian Lebanon. In the Civil War, the Maronites allied with Israel to destroy the Muslims and Arabs/Palestinian invaders, but failed. My question here is: who should I support; Israelis/Jews, or Arabs/Muslims? And don't say neither, because my people need some form of ally in this hostile region.
On one hand, Muslims 'claim' to honor Jesus and Mary, and are against Western invasions such as the bloodbath that was Iraq (which I do NOT support obviously). They oppose Jews and hate them, who have slurred against Christ and Mary in their sickening Talmud.
On the other hand, while the Jews may have a more disgusting scripture, their actions are far better than that of Arabs. Arabs raped, tortured, and killed Mid East Christians since the dawn of time. They claim to be our brothers, yet blow up our churches, kidnap children, and start jihad over nothing. Meanwhile, the allegedly 'evil jews' are actually very welcoming of middle eastern christian refugees, and there are a few maronite towns in Israel. I've also heard many Israelis I've known say that they wish Israel would have let ALL of the christians from Lebanon in. I've never heard a muslim say anything of that sort.
So, who is a better friend for a Christian? A jew or muslim? No conspiracies please. If you post a graph of a few radical orthodox jews destroying a statue of Mary, I can pull up three articles from the past MONTH of Muslims doing the same. Give me some theological and political perspective, I can't stand my indecisiveness when it comes to these two factions, and I'd like to pick one or the other.
