>think the resurrection sculpture is quite beautiful

>decide to look up more info about it

>countless blogs and videos of people calling the sculpture demonic and evil

>all because it's related to the pope and has a sort of harsh and abrasive look to it

I'll admit, I'm still new to Christianity and I'm learning the religion. Is it normal for Christians to find devils in everything? One guy even took the left half of the sculpture, mirrored it over to the right half, and then drew a goat over the center. Also it measures 66 ft. tall etc.

I think they're grasping at straws and the measurements are arbitrary, but I'll let you guys decide. Thoughts?

e5ecd0 No.602767

It's a symbolic work. Anti-Catholics claim it's proof that the Church is against Christ; but, according to the sculptor it was made with nuclear weapons in mind.

So what's the meaning? A giant serpent enclosing the room attempting to destroy Christ, but failing miserably as he descends from Heaven. Notice how his arms seems to be declining from a horizontal position (the Cross), the meaning is that Christ is always triumphant, and the Papal seat is in front of it, as its defender.

ce657f No.602773

Seems really odd that people would find it satanic.

Not every piece of Christian artwork or sculpture needs to be traditionally beautiful. It's like complaining about depicting Christ on the cross, or saying that Mel Gibson's movie about the Passion was too realistic.

Did you read the part where it's supposed to be depicting Jesus after a nuclear holocaust? In a room that's shaped like the head of a serpent, with no christian symbols or even a tiny little cross? A bit strange. Reminds me of the Georgia Guidestones, a sort of "new 10 commandents" where the first one is to wipe out 99% of humanity. Another connection is those swiss guards, and that demonic ceremony they had opening up those tunnels (or bunkers if you will) in the alps.

"Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and free man, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16And they said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb."

There is a lot fuckery going on in the vatican, don't forget that the anti-christ is supposed to come from Rome. Don't forget the prophecy of the popes, prophezised by no less than an actual Saint. Francis is 112th. the last one, the Black Pope, a total heretic from an order of other dodgy fellows that dress in black.

The cabal of satanists running the world are obsessed with fulfilling biblical prophecy, always have been.

The anti-Christ comes from a city built upon seven hills (Revelation 17:9). Rome was built upon seven hills. Unless you think the apostles were writing about Providence, Rhode Island

I just explained it for you. You can continue to lie and say the authentic Church of Christ is something like Cobra from G.I.Joe tho

Anti-Catholics are by and large a bunch of wretched idiots who hate Catholics more than they love God and truthfulness. There is a lot of untruthful propaganda that was designed to consolidate political power away from Catholics that is still parroted around today even though is it obviously untrue. There are even those who hate the Virgin Mary calling her a whore etc because of how much they hate Catholics.

d6bbd0 No.602855

Although I respectfully disagree on some points, I have no beef with Catholicism.

Nevertheless, outside of the representation of Jesus himself, I find the rest of the elements of the sculpture (i.e. the gnarled and mangled forms) objectively creepy.

2d0a14 No.602918

It is creepy as fuck and does not inspire any positive passionate feelings. But its not satanic.

The Beast is probably the same being as Abaddon, i.e. one of Satan's angels. The false prophet, Emmerich's "Second Pope" will probably be a syncretic Muslim.

>>602918

Looks pretty badass to me.

>>602855

I think the gnarled forms are supposed to be the latter fire destroying the old creation.

I don't know how normal it is, but I have only experienced one time in real life when a Christian showed me the picture of this room to claim it is demonic. I personally don't think so, it's a pretty sweet statue. I say that as someone who disagrees with Catholicism, but this sculpture isn't something I would hold against them.

Rome in Revelation is a spiritual figuration, not literal. John similarly calls the city where the two witnesses are killed figuratively Sodom and Gomorrah. Certainly could be literally modern day Rome and the Vatican, but it can be just as easily read as the United States as the spiritual inheritor of the Roman Empire

Abaddon is an angel of the Lord. Christ gives him the key to Hell to unleash the locusts. Christ wouldnt give a demon that key.

If a depiction of the Resurrection doesn't inspire the same feeling as the oldest depictions, I'm not sure I like it. The statue is off-putting, but I don't hate it.

in some ways the ottoman captivity was ok if it kept us from doing stuff like that statue. I guess I don't like it more than I thought.

I feel that way about Penderecki’s Utrenja II (the opening part). The part where it goes “Christos Anesti” and then there are a ton of bells makes me think of the resurrection. The beginning part with the weird cracking sound just sounds weird and creepy to me. And I had heard it before I saw The Shining

weird. Holy Week always produces a melancholy, almost nihilistic feeling, as if all hope is lost. I don't feel scared, because Pascha is coming, just like I'm a part of a garrison at a doomed fort. I don't know if I like that music either, it's too discordant in my opinion. Reminds me too much of the stories from the Soviet Union.

Sorry for the blogpost.

To me, it shows how the superficial minds of many people can be distracted by forms and not by the real content. Because the hair looks like a snake, and the building seem to resemble a snake.

It was a gift from a famous sculptor.

Maybe the piece is ugly or maybe the artist was ahead of his time and artlets just don't get it.

Either way, I bet people will appreciate it after the world powers start an actual nuclear war.

The hills could be read as representations of the 7 churches atop which the spiritual rome sits as a corrupting influence. They could represent seven powerful countries/agencies/people over which Satan holds power. There is no absolute reading as scripture is of no private interpretation. I tend to think that the book is a vision of spiritual things so attempting to force earthy things into its imagery is interesting but nothing more than guessing
