My atheist friend posed an question to me which I didn't know how to respond to well. The question is:

Why doesn't God personally reveal the Gospel to everyone? Sure, through reason we might be able to conclude that God exist, but belief in God does not save, it is the Gospel that saves. One can't come to know about Jesus Christ and the Gospel simply through reason, one has to have it revealed to them. So why doesn't God personally reveal the Gospel to everyone if he desires everyone to be saved? Why did he have to send missionaries on foot like Paul to preach the Gospel?

>Why doesn't God personally reveal the Gospel to everyone?

Because He already did so. Jesus Christ took on the flesh of man and presented Himself as the Son of God. Now, think of all the people our Lord met in His life and ministry, and think of all of the people He personally met and taught, and revealed Himself to, and they didn't care or didn't believe.

Understanding this you can perhaps see why "Jesus appearing to everyone in their dreams" might not be the most efficacious way of spreading the Gospel. This is in part why the Church was established to carry on this mission so that as many as would believe could be saved.

Spot on.

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Acts 13:48

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

If God was able to make it so that as many as were ordained to eternal life would hear the word and believe at this time, how impossible would it be for this to be true for every one of his saints?

Ask if he would believe it if Jesus actually appeared in his dream. He, like many other people, would dismiss it as a delusion.

>Again which one, the anglican church? All those churches say different things about jesus

They really don't, every christian denomination believes the same thing about our lord. Now the trappings may be different but the core message is undoubtedly the same.
