>I want to go back to those days. What happened?
<Say not: What thinkest thou is the cause that former times were better than they are now? for this manner of question is foolish. (Ecl 7:10)
People were always awful and sinful and wilfully resistant to grace. Back then they were just better at hiding it.
>Behold this was the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance, and the idleness of her, and of her daughters: and they did not put forth their hand to the needy, and to the poor. (Ez 16:49)
This is a verse which is used by a lot of liberals and atheists who use it to try to show that Sodom wasn't killed for "muh love is love" but for other sins.
No one would claim that sodomy was the only sin that the cities of the plain were levelled for, sure, but look at how familiar it sounds
>Abundance of food
>Excessive wealth
>Pride
>Sloth
>Lack of virtuous charity
That sodomy and sexual vice would follow from this is just the icing on the cake, since pretty much all Fathers testify to the fact that the sins of lust and gluttony are inextricably linked.
