Should I become a Seventh-day Adventist? I've been doing Bible study with them and my friend who is Seventh-day Adventist.

a8c7b8 No.595802

They are decent people. The main problem with them is that they claim their founder Ellen White was a prophet. I see no evidence of that. She had a head injury as a kid, I think that is what caused her to get visions. I don't think they were from God or Satan, just a result of her injury. Look into the Great Disappointment. And how they reinterpreted what was supposed to happen in 1844 since what they expected to happen didn't. They also promote vegetarianism which is unbiblical. I'm not too sure about the Sabbath thing. Anyway overall they are okay, nice people, and I wouldn't call them non-Christian or heretics, but they have some problems so I don't recommend joining them.

SDA's aren't Evil or 100% heresy, I have read Ellen G's book (step to Christ) and I agree with. But I have a huge bad vibe with the whole Church authority thing and how they teach Jesus is micheal. Overall I just think their a 50 - 50. Remember it's all about God and Jesus.

I grew up in an SDA church and as far as I can say there are fairly decent people. The problem is, that they pervert the doctrine in its fundaments and that the members become quite militant when you question it. Additionally, you get cultish vibes from the community - or at least to the one I went - and they are really serious about their Sabbath/Saturday. Some believe in a conspiracy where the NWO will issue a "Sunday-law" and that is supposed to be one of the end times. Nowhere in The Bible does it say that Sabbath is a specific day in the week. Sure, some languages took it from the Hebrew, which might be the Saturday, BUT Sabbath means only "resting day" and nothing else. And as far as I've heard, the SDA church is becoming increasingly more liberal.

I recommend to you the two sermons of pastor Anderson, because, as far as I can tell, he did not spread misinformation about the current SDA church.

>Nowhere in The Bible does it say that Sabbath is a specific day in the week

I mean, considering they stoned people to death for violating it in old covenant times according to God's own commandment, it must have been one specific day, not some willy nilly "any day of the seven will do" thing. It's called the sabbath, not a sabbath.

>they teach Jesus is micheal

Excuse me? That sounds an awful lot like heresy to me.

f18d48 No.595840

>>595833

This doesn't prove the point at all. The Sabbath was always the seventh day, and it is several times repeated that you shall rest on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath.

52fe2d No.595846

>>595840

Yeah the seventh day. So it was one specific day of the seven. Presumably Saturday since it would be hard to believe that the day the Jews observed shifted suddenly without any trace of that happening.

Don't Jehovah's Witnesses also preach that? Or am I getting my heretics confused again?

f18d48 No.595848

>>595846

So, now the seventh day shifted to Sunday that is kept as a resting day. By that definition it is the Sabbath now. It is stated that the seventh day is always the Sabbath/resting day. I do not know about other translations, and I do not know Hebrew, Greek or Latin in order to say if there was truly a specific day given for the seventh day. We only have a number for the Sabbath.

Yes. JW are offshot of 7DA

Wait so 7DA are Arians? I thought they were at least trinitarians

Don't forget, they're also responsible for the Branch Davidians.

836b32 No.595922

>>595906

They aren't Arians. They're Trinitarian.

While they do believe Christ and Michael are the same, they believe that "Michael" is merely another name for the Son, and that while he is leader of the angels, he's not an angel himself as he was begotten not made and a person of the Trinity. JWs also believe that Christ and Michael are the same, but they believe that Christ/Michael was created and is not begotten, and is an archangel rather than same essence of the father

SDAs still have a wrong teaching on that matter, but at least they're not heretics of JW caliber as they still believe in the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Don't. It's impossible to serve two masters. You really can't be a Judaizer and an actual Christian simultaneously.

David Koresh did nothing wrong.

Not really, but the JewSA gov't was completely wrong in how they handled Waco

f407ad No.596066

Nah.

Even if you wanna go neo-prot, pick another church.

The sunday and diet thing is a meme they made up to give themselves importance and legitimacy, based off a stupid conspiratorial narrative that has nothing to do with historical fact(which triggers me to no end).

We have no historical records of sabbatism after the mosaic-christian split.

And especially not outside of the roman empire, which would have been a thing, if Constantine had implemented sunday worship as a change within the Church, as SDA's claim.

They were.

Just practically speaking, how would it occur that the Jews all of a sudden forgot what day the original Sabbath was and started doing it on a different day? I don't think anyone even claims that happened anyway. They claim the Church transferred the solemnity from the sabbath to the first day of the week since that is when the resurrection occurred.

f18d48 No.596090

>>596077

I do not know how or if they forgot the original day. I presume that they have not because the Orthodox Jews are very strict in regards to their traditions and law. This is why I think it counts when you rest on a seventh day, who is, by whomsoever is set and feasible. Putting so much importance on which specific day the supposedly intended Sabbath is, only devides Christians; when I grew up in the SDA church - or cult, as I see it - I got the vibe other denominations that rest on Sunday (or any other day than Saturday) are utter heretics.

1dfef2 No.596149

>>596036

Very true. They were waiting for an opportunity to raze the place, and children died due to alphabet soup agency actions. That being said, David Koresh is certainly in hell.

>gee, we need to save these precious children who are allegedly being molested at this church, how do we do that? should we wait and arrest the head of the church when he heads into town to pick up supplies or something?

>nah!

>wait i've got it! we need to pump the church full of highly flammable CS gas and then set off flash bangs to ignite it ensuring that everyone in the church burns to death

You can't get molested if you're a pile of ashes.
