Do the Oriental Orthodox have a central theologian like Aquinas for the Catholics and Palamas for the Eastern Orthodox?

a0c842 No.591465

Good question, I've wondered about it too, they do share some saints with Catholics and Orthodox from the apostolic and patristic periods. Don't know about OO's but I I've read that Nestorians were treated like theological bumpkins for similar reasons.

>Of course Christian Europe would forever view the Nestorians as “false Christians”; as oriental bumpkins whose knowledge of Christ and doctrine was tantamount to paganism, and would even dispatch missionaries with the sole purpose of “converting” them to Christianity.

St. Severus of Antioch

There's Isaac of Nineveh and there was a controversy as to whether he was Nestorian but the EO claim he wasn't. Dostoevsky was a big fan.

Cyril of Alexandria maybe?

I suspect Ephraim the Syrian and Aphraat the Persian

This. He's also one of the biggest hurdles between EOC and OOC unity, so he's a very distinguishing person between the two.
