So I came for advice, mostly because it's about a person who is a Christian. I'm an atheist and have been so since I was 17 and am 27 now. I used to be a Seventh Day Adventist, and while I still do a lot of the SDA things in the community, and volunteer to help, mostly because I know these people and we help each other.

However, I recently started dating this girl. She's five years my junior, and she quite likes me, and I like her. The problem is that she thinks I'm still a church-going Christian, and I don't know how to break it to her without it feeling like I tricked her or something.

So what I'm asking is, how would you like someone to approach you about this if you were the girl? She seems to be the more religious type, and while I'm fine with her dumping me over this, I don't want her to think I was deceiving her and simply that we had a misunderstanding.

Pic unrelated. Least offensive one I had.

1] Open your mouth

2] Speak to HER, not us

3] Start going to church, man. On the reg.

Well, I do want to tell her. I just don't know how.

Just be honest with her, tell her it was a misunderstanding. If she's devout she'll probably break up with you because of 2 Corinthians 6:14.

Would you be interested in hearing the gospel? Jesus loves you, and would like nothing better than to see you saved.

I guess I'll just have to go for it. As I said, I don't mind if she breaks up with me. I'll be sad, but I'm not worried about me. My thoughts on religion likely won't change. I was pretty devout for most of my life until I went to university and read more stuff and opposing ideas. I think culturally, I'm still a Christian, as I said, I'm still involved with the SDA community, but I'll have to keep thinking about it. I might go back to church just to see what's up.

Come back and post the results.

tbh, would you go to church for to be with her?

I don't believe Christian girls find it very sexy when they meet a man, and he becomes Christian just to be with her.

I know one success story of a guy who was exChristain, met a Christian girl, and only because she wanted him did he decide to start going to church. They're still together, but the roles were switched from your situation.

What ideas did you read in the first place? Personally, I spent three years trying to beat proper Thomistic philosophy with a sledgehammer, and once I accepted it was airtight and did the Christian thing properly my life was transformed. Modern atheistic philosophy tends to be a shitshow, it engages a rejects conception of God as just another Zeus hurling thunderbolts from his throne in the sky. That's understandable because that hypothetical guy sucks, but they don't even touch the way classical theists or the Bible understands God.

>Seventh Day Adventist

There lies your problem. Leave that cult and change to one that is not one with false teachings and a false prophet.

He is an atheist, did you not read the whole OP?

What lead you away from faith my friend?

Be upfront with her, but this is also a good chance for you to examine your own beliefs. Try watching some William Lane Craig debates, and reading the book of John again.
