Saint Olga of Kiev buried people alive, burned people alive, and enslaved people, and as far as I know nobody cares.
Oh wait I just stated what is in the OP but in a different way.
So what happened? Did she repent?

Christians start from the basis that there is a heaven and a hell.
If you believe in Jesus, you go to heaven. If you do not, you go to hell.
Those who encourage people not to believe in Jesus do a terrible thing by leading them to hell. That is why heretics and pagans might face the criminal death penalty.

I only looked briefly but it looks like she did these things before her baptism, and afterwards she put in a great effort to spread Christianity throughout the area.

Memes aside, don't most historians believe that the story of her doing that to people is a myth attributed to her?
It even says so on Wikipedia.

Excuse me friend, but last time I checked Catholicism states that faith is required for salvation.

If that's true then it explains everything.

It says she she was baptized in 945 or 957. She started her campaign against these people in 947 so it's hard to know.

Sola Fide is the belief of salvation by “faith alone”. Just because we don’t believe in Sola Fide does not mean that faith isn’t a tenet of the Church at all. The Catholic Church as well as the Eastern Orthodox believes that salvation is by “faith *and* good works” instead of by “faith alone”. Faith is a requirement for salvation, it just isn’t the only requirement.

From a secular perspective most of the stories about Catholic and Orthodox saints would be written off as fanciful tales. Whether the story is true or not it is interesting that these are the deeds being ascribed to a supposed heroine. It would be different if the story was about her realizing her deeds were evil and repenting but the accounts I've seen don't depict it in that way.

Those canonized as Saints are said to have performed miracles. The secular world doesn't recognize miracles as real. So of course the secular world (including sources like Wikipedia) doesn't believe the stories about Saints are true. My only point is that the story, whether it's true or not, portrays evil acts but does not seem to recognize those acts as evil.

I'm not trying to safe anything here, just stating the obvious.
Saint Olga is a person with lots of historical significance but because she's a saint you directly find it odd the myths about her are negative while making a generalization that most saint stories tend to be fiction.

being a saint means you are in heaven, not that your life on earth was virtuous. All it takes is to die in a state of grace.
