Isn't this really rare? Since the only JB that one can find in most places is the New Jerusalem Bible, or the CTS Bible, which is just the NJB with "YHWH" replaced by "The Lord".

Seriously though the inclusion of the Tratragrammaton is one of the most baffling translation choices I have ever heard of.

I can't recall which particular generation we have. I think it might be the New edition. But it's not a translation series I'm familiar with - I know ESV, RSV, NRSV the best, and KJV sometimes as it's beautiful.

It's a weird origin, because it was originally a French translation from the 50s, but then was translated into English.

I think that the JB/NJB have the same kind of reputation amongst French Catholics that the RSV-CE (and RSV-CEII, to an extent) has amongst Anglos, in that they're both fairly modern translations, but they were both just pre-VII, so they're still "fine".

I think pretty much all English liturgical texts for the modern UK Catholic church come from the JB though. The Divine Office relies on this a lot, too, but also sometimes uses texts from the RSV and the Knox Bible (which is a gorgeous translation).
