Quite a few folks. I don't know if anyone meets the definition of the Catholic priest and I'm pretty sure nobody here is a cloistered monk (obvious reasons), but there are definitely a handful of protestant ministers and self-described monastics.

But, then again, each church/denom has its own criteria for being a minister. Some more strict, some more open; but every single one of us are called to minister. (Acts 13) All we need to do is answer. Everything else is man's rules.

What state do you live in where government permission is needed to preach? Or do you just mean the government's favor when you say approval?

It's not so much permission to preach, but every state has differing requirements on who can do things like sign marriage licenses and whatnot. Some states require the minister be ordained by an established organization - like a specific church - but that can be taken care of by getting ordained at a place like this:

Yes, it's a valid "legal" ordination in all 50 states and US territories. The first amendment is grand.

That's a different issue though. Almost no one takes the time to actually read the history or doctrine of any church other than their own. Even from the Catholics and Orthodox on this board, who tend to be a little better at knowing about each other, I still see depressing amounts of misinformation, misrepresentation and outright mockery.
