Like witchcraft? They kind of are. When I was a feminist tumblrite, there were a lot of women and LGBTQI people willing to take their "ancestor' s spirituality" again as it was more "progressive" than Christianity. I'm seeing the same talking point on /pol/ again with different motives.
They aren't too different from each other as the extreme cases are prideful people who want a doctrine that agrees with them and their every action, not one that they can reform themselves from. Although /pol/ is better, both groups they can't admit that they're making a mistake and would excuse the worst actions out there.
