Jews themselves should be converted to Christianity. We used to pray for the conversion of Jews on Good Friday, but we no longer do that anymore thanks to St John XXIII. Sometimes however you can probably still find petitions for their conversion, although on less controversial terms.

As a spiritual nation, We, the Church, are Israel. The Old Israel, in refusing to recognise the Christ, has gone astray and needs to come back to God.

As a temporal nation, it's just another nation-state. Curiously, the Vatican believes that Jerusalem should be an independent city state and should belong neither to Israel or Palestine. Ideally it should be a Christian city state but whatever.

I'm just thankful that American Protestantism has re-found the truth which for 1500 years was obscured by the Roman Catlick Church. That Jesus Christ, son of G-d, born of some girl, suffered under Rome, was crucified and buried; and on the third day rose and grafted the gentiles into the State of Israel.
