>kent hovind

This guy is shill. He uses discredited arguments to make YEC, and Christians as a whole look bad.

But there is a cloth that was wrapped about his head. The Sudarium of Oviedo.

This item also contains stains of blood which matches the blood on the Shroud.

>Kent Hovind

Oh

>i gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: i hid not my face from shame and spitting (Isaiah 50:6)

maybe this just meant they grabbed His beard and pulled some off, not that His face was cleanshaven due to being plucked

>Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? (1 Cor. 11:14)

>It's a shame to have long hair

>Jesus wouldn't do shameful things

>the man pictured in the shroud had long hair

>therefore, the man pictured in the shroud is not Jesus

that's a pretty good argument tbh

You probably just don't like him cause you're one of Pastor Anderson's lemmings and believe whatever he believes.

except Jesus is a nazarine. Nazarines aren't supposed to cut their hair.

4ccae3 No.571312

>>571311

That's Nazarites. Nazarenes are people from Nazareth. Nazarites are people who take a vow not to cut their hair. Completely different. And we know Jesus wasn't a Nazarite because he drank wine, Nazarites couldn't even touch grapes.

I don't like him for the reason I stated, among others.

Although, it's pretty odd how you accuse me of "being one of Pastor Anderson's lemmings" when you're so ready to whiteknight for Hovind, you disregard all criticism of him with "muh pastor anderson".

>and believe whatever he believes.

Anderson has some good videos, but he also acts like an idiot a lot of times and spreads heresy, too. I don't even agree with him about the marriage license thing, but I get his problem with Hovind purposely making a mockery of marriage.

>ITT: Despicable example of the genetic fallacy

Because you goober heads are spazing out because it was Kent Hovind pointing out what Scripture says let me show you what the Greek says:

ἔρχεται οὖν καὶ Σίμων Πέτρος ἀκολουθῶν αὐτῷ, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον: καὶ θεωρεῖ τὰ ὀθόνια κείμενα,

It's all Greek to me yuk yuk yuk. Anyway, what specifically is the key word we are looking for? This one: ὀθόνιον, or othonion (o-tho-ni-on) in its plural form ὀθόνια othonios. Why did I pick this word? Let see what it means:

According to the NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon, othonion means a wrap of linen or a small piece of linen.

https://www.biblestudytools.com/lexicons/greek/nas/othonion.html

Liddel-Scott, while not dealing strictly with Koine Greek, but classical as well affirms this definition:

http://stephanus.tlg.uci.edu/lsj/#eid=74507&context=lsj

So Jesus was not covered with a shroud like medieval European royalty, but in strips of linen as expected of the ancient world.

>>571301

Kent Hovind is a goober, but why is he wrong about this?

>>571303

>This item also contains stains of blood which matches the blood on the Shroud.

Doesn't matter if there was no shroud.

How do you get past the requirement of undetectable reweaving? As I understand it, it's possible at the level of visual examination, but not aided (microscopic) examination.

>Kent Hovind is a goober, but why is he wrong about this?

I'm not saying he's right or wrong about this(although I personally believe it's legitimate), just that he's a shill and you shouldn't use him as a source.

>Doesn't matter if there was no shroud.

But there is a shroud, so it does matter.

>Kent Hovind is a goober, but why is he wrong?

Because he states:

- "the shroud is a fraud made by the Church to get money" meme

- he's implying that crucifixion was done by just using nails. The Romans also used ropes to secure the hands and sometimes torsos of their victims because they knew the hands would just tear right open if just left to support themselves. He is right about the use of big washers too, but it's disingenuous to pretend they had only one means of doing things.

- he ignores the sudarium (napkin) that I mentioned

Also I didn't understand what his point was about Jesus being clean shaven. The hair on the shroud is down to about His jaw. That's not long. "Long hair" is more like picture related, which would be (and is) discgraceful for a man to have.

He seems kind of shaggy. I don't think it would fly in certain circles.
