>OT "quotes" God

are we supposed to take these quotes literally? I don't think God dictated things to prophets, I think prophets had intuitions/visions/dreams and they just paraphrased what God "would've" said.

Even in the NT, I don't think God literally said "this is my son who i am well pleased"….the meaning was felt by Matthew or Mark but it wasn't a verbatim psychic message or booming voice in the sky, was it?

We are, in fact, supposed to take those quotes literally. Prophets did have dreams, but the purpose of those dreams was so that God could talk to them without freaking out the normies. Why would Matthew and Mark include the baptism quote if it wasn't witnessed by people? Why would God even do the baptism quote if not to, at least metaphorically, say "this guy's my kid, listen to him"? What is the alternative way of doing that? I can't help but feel that you are being silly on purpose.

The Lord Jesus Christ quotes from the prophets and even taught Peter on the road all things that were of Himself written from Moses onwards, the Lord believed the scripture strictly, and so we should believe it fully as well.

>“And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:17-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬
