I get the impression that love used to mean something, you hear of people marrying their childhood sweethearts and being married for like 70 years, things like this seem so rare now.

Part of it must be down to Capitalism, surely. It's a dog-eat-dog world and not only that, love is a marketing thing now, something to be sold. I don't know exactly, just feels like we've lost something.

Well, I don't really "deal" with it; it's a 'datum' in my life and I just suffer it.

Distract myself with hobbies and work. Loneliness is only a bother when I have nothing to do. The world is supposed to hate us, look for love from God and your siblings in Christ.

I would tend to agree. The values of the market now govern social relations. Tired of your spouse? Trade it in for an upgrade. Girls keep rejecting you? Buy a sexbot.

It's easy to blame Capitalism for this but really the blame lies with ourselves. The Church doesn't speak vociferously about these issues and thus divorce and singleness become the norm.

I don't know how God puts up with us sometimes. Why doesn't He destroy us? Lukewarmness and indifference are truly some of the worst sins.

While capitalism can be partly to blame, I don't think it's the root cause of our loveless West. Feminism is a pretty big cause, not loving the One who is Love is pretty big too.
