I wouldn't have much hope for it if it was from HBO given their need to shoehorn nudity into everything and the unlikelihood that they would be respectful of Christianity. But it looks like it's a History channel thing, HBO only obtained the rights to it in Central and Eastern Europe.

It seems like it is about the Knights Templar and their 'persecution' and execution. I think it will make them out to be heroes and apparently it involves the holy grail. Philip IV who destroyed the Templars also expelled the Jews from France, he was in debt to both.

What does everyone here think of the Templars? They were usurers right? I don't know whether they were idolaters and homosexuals as they were accused of being (and confessed to being under torture). I do know that Freemasons see themselves as fulfilling the Templars legacy, and whenever the mass media talks about Templars it's as persecuted heroes, like with the Da Vinci Code garbage where they supposedly protected Jesus' 'grail bloodline'. This seems like more of the same, probably. But I'll give it a shot

This is essentially how I feel the series will go.

In addition I'm sure they'll take every opportunity to try to shit on Christianity in the process.

Will not be surprised whatsoever when they start having the templars feeling bad for crusading to take back the Holy Land and defending Christianity. Or making them out to be the aggressors, etc.

I plan to give it a watch and will most likely end up extremely mad.

I think they were good pious Christians. Not to sure on usury and all that jazz relating to them, but I doubt they were being greedy bastards seeing how they gave up all their wealth to join the templar in the first place. And I highly doubt they were idolaters and homosexuals, pretty sure that was just the French King's excuse to start persecuting them and taking them out.
