This is essentially how I feel the series will go.
In addition I'm sure they'll take every opportunity to try to shit on Christianity in the process.
Will not be surprised whatsoever when they start having the templars feeling bad for crusading to take back the Holy Land and defending Christianity. Or making them out to be the aggressors, etc.
I plan to give it a watch and will most likely end up extremely mad.

I think they were good pious Christians. Not to sure on usury and all that jazz relating to them, but I doubt they were being greedy bastards seeing how they gave up all their wealth to join the templar in the first place. And I highly doubt they were idolaters and homosexuals, pretty sure that was just the French King's excuse to start persecuting them and taking them out.
