Christanons, can you help me?

> Grow up as Protestant

> Somewhat neurotic, desperate for certainty about my beliefs

> Also motivated to find rationalizations for degeneracy and pre-marital sex

> Start reading modern philosophy and listening to debates about the Bible, God, science, doctrine to try to bolster my faith/look for loopholes

> Gradually lose faith in God, the Bible and Christianity

> Atheist edgelord for a while

> Engage in multifaceted degeneracy

> Very unsatisfying

> Still restless, constantly looking for novel ideas and perspectives

> Start studying maths and philosophy at university

> Stumble upon Catholic philosophers/writers like Edward Feser and David Oderberg

> Das_it_mane.webm

> Spark renewed curiosity about religion and spirituality

> Come to appreciate classical theism, metaphysics and natural law

> No longer identify as an atheist

> Reluctant to join any particular religion or denomination

Wat do lads? The God of the philosophers/mathematicians seems very different from the God of the Bible, who also seems very different from the God of the Christians. And the uniquely Christian, Jewish and Muslim doctrines/dogmas seem like man-made constructions compared to the sublime nature of metaphysics/maths.

I've been there. For a skeptical soul, believing even just the concept of the incarnation, much less the full gospel, is an arduous process, as it requires stitching together an objective fact out of a very subjective selection of facts., meaning that whatever you end up with isn't airtight enough to keep proper faith in. Biases don't help, and it sounds like you've been spoiled to Christianity in the past.

With that in mind, I'd like to ask you a few basic questions for the sake of clarity.

>What is the meaning of your life?

>Do you believe that God acts? If so, is that action voluntary or necessary?

>What seems so different to you about the God of Aristotle, the God of Moses, and Jesus Christ?

Each of these gods is the same God, but it was only Christianity that reconciled classical theism with revealed religion. From Augustine to Aquinas we were the ones who kept classical theism alive in the West. Nonetheless, it is important to remember that the philosophy of Christianity is a defense and an explanation of revealed religion, the heart of it is in worship and salvation. You can't know the truth if you don't live it, otherwise its just a theory.
