I'm addicted and I want to completely remove these habits from my life.

Could any past drug users detail how they overcame them?

No.

Just become self aware and learn to value the good, aka God, more than hedonism.

I ran out of money and wasn't willing to do the things a drug addict has to do to keep getting high. So I just white knuckled the cravings and got it over with. It can take a few attempts depending on how bad your habit is but eventually you'll get it. Talk to God constantly while doing so.

Replacement habits are a godsend. Prayer, lifting weights, running, working on cars, tinkering, chronic shitposting, etc.

What's great is once you learn to control this one thing you'll find other things in life are easy to get a handle on.

May I ask what/which drugs?

I stopped after several instances of developing hypnogogic hallucinations and have gone through hell for the past year trying out different medications to find one that can stop the symptoms without life-ruining side effects.

Some idiots, like me, don't wake up until they hit rock bottom.

Don't be like me.

Cannabis and alcohol mostly, psychedelics a few times a month .

Growing up I've always told myself to not mess with opiates, coke etc and only mess with what's "natural".

I'm thankful that I thought this way as if I were addicted to harder stuff my body would be in a far worse condition.Though I found myself completely abandoning this recently. I've just became a fiend for whatever high.

I've burned so many bridges, bankrupted myself and spent my savings. Even when my mom and dad cried for hours I still didn't learn a thing.

I feel like complete evil for introducing innocent pure people to these substances aswell.

Sounds terrifying.

I hope you will be able to treat it.

I was in a similar state a few years ago. Alcohol every day, cannabis less frequently, and others occasionally.

I think I stopped because my conscience caught up with me and I knew if I kept on doing this I was going to die and not be right God and my fellow man. I knew I had to get better so I tried to just stop completely, and I would be good for awhile, but would fall back into old habits with old people.

What really changed was discovering my church and really making a commitment to living the true Christian life. Which means confessing what you've done, owning it, all of it. And forgiving whoever it was who caused you to go down this path for whatever they did. Forgive everyone for everything, the whole of humanity, and then God will forgive you and you'll be whole again.

Once you go down this right path God's love is truly greater than any high you can experience through drugs.

God bless you, brother.

Great video.

I've had some reconciliation with my faith recently. Your guiding words means a lot and I won't forget them. God bless.

I overcame an all day/everyday weed addiction by crying out to God for help pretty much every night for a few months, reading the Gospels (especially Mark), and saying the Lord’s Prayer…even when high. I’m not saying get high and get spiritual. I’m saying that if you hate your slavery to sin and earnest seek God’s rescue…He will rescue you.

Jesus will meet you where you are, you just have to want to be well. He is always asking people, “What do you want me to do for you.” If you don’t want to stop using, you won’t. If you don’t want to stop using, ask God to help you want to want to stop using.

Listen to and pray the Divine Mercy…

“Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.”

My spouse and I used pretty much anything and everything. At one point, we hit ye olde rock bottom, got kicked out and moved in with so called friends in a near literal hellhole. The place was absolutely filthy and so were they. I was in the absolute worst shape of my life. Had no money for drugs was smoking cigarette butts, no car, no way to do anything. We were both so sick. All I had was the Lord. So I prayed. A lot. All the time. I asked God to help me and my spouse. It was literally the only thing I could do to get relief . Now we have our own apartment and a car all thanks to Jesus Christ. We're healthy again and happy again. It's been a rocky road but there is absolutely no way we could have beat our addictions without Him. He saved my life.

Pro-tip for opiate users, kratom is your friend, once you switch to kratom it's way easier to kick a kratom habit than an opiate addiction. It doesn't make you fiend like a junkie either.
