As far as we know we're the most complex thing that exists in the universe. We're the only beings able to contemplate our own existence and to a degree capable of manifesting our own reality for ourselves. When you believe in God there's an ultimate authority over the self that guides you making morality something absolute. So everything you do matters. It's either right or wrong. When you don't have God you become your own God and morality is relative, nothing you do matters more than you force yourself to have an abstract notion it does, which is never truly real, and you're naturally prone to self deception. In time you'll deceive yourself, always rewriting your morality so you can satiate your desires. The worse it gets the more twisted and enslaved to your base instincts you get. God is a focal point beyond self to assist in the attainment of true enlightenment.

Nearly everyone in my workplace is an atheist who are fierce opponents of Christ, self-righteous moral signalers who simultaneously don't take life seriously enough to properly consider morality beyond mere emotionalism, yet think they are qualified to judge the Bible, the story of creation and God's involvement within the affairs of men, without having ever even read it. Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene first because it's likely he meant more to her than he did to most of the disciples. He was a godly man who showed her the way to redemption. He brought her out of the 1st century poz and into something pure and not-AIDS.

I've been trying to write out a decent counterargument but at most I can mention a few key points.

One, I never agreed with you, so I'm not "changing my religion because of something significantly inconvenient".

Two, you should calm down. Personal experience is legitimately blinding you there.

Three, Realize Adam and Eve had perfect happiness with God without marriage, and that there is no marriage after death. You're stepping on God's view because in your temporary life you saw discord, and now you're trying to fight it by yourself. If you're serious about ending it, you should hand over the decision making to the one that made humans in first place.
