Christchan is back up after maintenance! The flood errors should now be resolved. Thank you to everyone who submitted a bug report!

Tomorrow I'm… Basically forced, by circumstance,,l to do a 'Judas Shuffle' - i.e. leave Mass early, immediately after Communion. Obviously I can't just turn and walk out - Do I bow to the altar or Genuflect to the Tabernacle?

This isn't something I want to do, but because of some things happening tomorrow, I unfortunately have to.

Just don't return to your pew after communion. Unless you're in a small church or everyone knows you, you'll be fine

Thanks Baptibro (Broptist?), but because of the Literal presence, I know I gotta either kneel (genuflect) or bow. Can't remember what one.

if the Blessed Sacrament is in a Tabernacle on or near the altar, one genuflects and does not bow.

Just prostrate onto the floor. Then at least everyone will know you are genuine.

Are you an Anglican, a cripple or carrying things in both arms? If not then you genuflect as always.

Okay. Sorry, and thank you.

we genuflect

or are meant to at any rate

and I think it's any arm, when carrying the candle snuffer in one arm we bow

You don't have to genuflect as Anglican orders are invalid (see article 25 of the Anglican church) thus cannot consecrate the Eucharist thus it's just bread not God.

>Judas Shuffle

Yeah, but just genuflect as always and leave. Lots of people in my parish do it.

Good thing there is not such thing as the Eucharist as the Real Presence is the real truth. Luther was right.

I'll take Christ's word over Luther's thanks

How is it that Catholics are always like "this is my body" is literal (not that I disagree) but when Christ is like "and there are those that castrate themselves for the Kingdom of Heaven, and those that receive this word should accept it" they're all like - that's purely metaphorical, Christ didn't mean to cut off your junk, he just meant to live celibate.

If anything "this is my body" seems more likely (again, I don't think it is, but I see the argument) to be symbolic than "castrate yourself if you've received the word to do it" (otherwise go get married) - as one calls for a specific act.

Don't you receive communion on your knees already?

51I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world.

52The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. 54He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. 55For my flesh is meat indeed: and my blood is drink indeed. 56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, abideth in me, and I in him. 57As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that eateth me, the same also shall live by me. 58This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead. He that eateth this bread, shall live for ever.

The saying is hard and not all can hear it indeed.

Let's stipulate Curae for a second. We have been in communion with the PNCC and Old Catholics, and bishops from those lineages are in my (male) priest's line of succession. You do not doubt those orders. Indeed, Rome even admits the possibility, despite Article 25, of ordained Anglicans, if not Anglican ordination. See the below on that.

https://www.ewtn.com/library/ISSUES/LEONARD.TXT

Therefore, let us admit, even if it is possible that Anglican orders are lost, many (indeed, perhaps nearly all male) Anglican priests may have valid orders. As to Eucharistic theology, ARCIC has an agreed statement reconciling our understandings, and it is not a barrier.

If Apostolae Curae is right, and the orders of the historic CoE lost, let us rejoice! Henry VIII engaged in inappropriate activity, including calling himself head of the church. If the Eucharist I received today was Old Catholic or PNCC in origin, so much the better. I only care that Christ was present therein.

Maybe the old catholics could validly ordain an Anglican (although how can you ordain someone who doesn't believe in the sacrament of Ordination?). However those "ordained" priests would have to schism from the Anglican church and authority of article 25 in order to ordain others. But they didn't and they maintained their belief in article 25 that ordination is not a sacrament thus they cannot validly ordain for they do not intend to. If you don't believe in the sacrament of ordination then you cannot ordain. If you believe in the sacrament of ordination then you cannot remain in the Anglican church which dogmatically denies it.

Or, now here me out on this one…

you could go to mass at a different time and avoid the situation all together?

Great idea, if I could drive and the only Church near me wasn't ten miles away, and I wasn't reliant on someone to get me to Mass.
