Some of them actually hand the Eucharist on people's hands to prove that ITS JUST BREAD.

Their entire existence is based on hating/bashing/being insecure about Catholics specifically. That was the case for the earliest reformers and it's the case today.

Pastor Jim Bob goes out there to his congregation and so does transgender non-binary Pastor Xosadnroz (pronouns: xis/xes/xos) to tell them "t-the papist church was created by satan, b-believe me ok guys please" because if they told their congregations the truth they'd be out of a job.

>>553473

He means 'why aren't Catholic clergy also openly butthurt about Protestants to their congregations'. You see, a Protestant can't fathom the idea of not making a scapegoat out of someone because they are insecure in their crappy beliefs.

That's because it's the catholic Church, which being the universal Church will of course draw in more heretics and lukewarms, by default. The Church itself is clearly anti-sodomy.

In reality the opposite is true.

Aside from KJV fundamentalists and certain foul-mouthed Baptists, Catholics are far and away the most pissant group on the board.

Nearly every interaction that I’ve had with a Calvinist/Methodist/what have you has been positive.

Baptist are the "We Wuz" of Protestants. You are Protestants, your theology came out of 17th century Separatist protesting the Church of England. You believe in faith alone and scripture alone. You can't get more Protestant than that.

What the fuck? I had no idea the "Baptists aren’t Protestants" thing is a genuine belief among some Baptists and not just a joke about Baptistposters on this board. Next you’re going to tell me people believe in the secret real Baptist apostolic succession.

c201d7 No.553873

>>553862

The term Protestant comes from a written statement by Lutheran and Calvinist leaders presented at the Second Diet of Speier. The statement, beyond just being against the Roman Church, also decried Baptists and declared them worthy of death.

>"All Anabaptists and rebaptized persons, male or female, of mature age, shall be judged and brought from natural life to death, by fire, or sword or otherwise, as may benefit the persons, without preceding trial by spiritual judges." (https://northerncatholicarchives.wordpress.com/2011/01/17/the-protest-at-speyer/)

>"From this protest. and appeal, the Lutherans were called Protestants." (History of the Christian Church, Volume VII, p.692)

Even if you don't believe in the trail of blood, it would be erroneous to list Baptists among Protestants. We have no historical connection to them, and we have different beliefs. We are separate groups

>Anabaptists are Baptists

Baptists came from English Separatism. As simple as that. If you want to claim meaningful connection to anabaptists then you may as well to first century gnostics.

Faith alone.

Acts 16

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

No baby sprinkling.

Acts 8

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

No worshipping man.

Acts 10

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

Jesus went to hell for 3 days.

Acts 2

31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

>implying that the Bible contains everything about Christianity

>implying that tradition passed down from the early Christian church can be ignored

cea110 No.553933

I once believed that pastor Steve Anderson was a godly man, because a lot of the stuff he said seemed gutsy - he spoke on parts of the doctrine that no one else seemed to have the guts to do.

But then I heard an interview in which he said that if someone was gay they should kill themselves because no redemption was open to them and they are just wicked people.

Now I firmly believe that homosexuality is a sin, but I cannot believe a Godly man would foreclose the possibility of redemption to anyone. The bible specifically says that homosexuals can repent and become Christian. Further, telling people to kill themselves is not something a Godly Christian man would do.

Also this Catholic vs protestant this is getting old, this board used to be a peaceful place and the Catholic protestant hatred on here is changing that for the worse.

>Yo das not rite we wus Donatists!

So you guys have sacraments like teh catholics and orthodox?

>Ok hol up hol up…we wus Albigensians!

So baptists are a bunch of gnostic nontrinitarians who perform rituals to reove sins from other people?

>Nah man actually we wuz Waldensians!

Didn't know baptists preach voluntary poverty and chastity for their preachers.

Also I didn't know you guys also had an Eucharist.

>>553873

>Even if you don't believe in the trail of blood, it would be erroneous to list Baptists among Protestants. We have no historical connection to them, and we have different beliefs. We are separate groups

"Historians trace the earliest church labeled "Baptist" back to 1609 in Amsterdam, Dutch Republic with English Separatist John Smyth as its pastor."

A quick Wikipedia search later (together with source) tells otherwise.
