Did Jesus willingly make himself incapable of certain things, or did he merely choose not to do them?

My preferred answer is that he willingly made himself incapable in an act of true and perfect humiliation. What do you think?

I didn't mean that he stopped being God. God willingly makes himself incapable even outside of Jesus, as in Hebrews 6:18:

>so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.

In his divinity he was omnipotent and never ceased to be. In his humanity he was not (simply). So answer is both.

He choose not to do.

"Thinkest thou that I cannot ask my Father, and he will give me presently more than twelve legions of angels? How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done?"

Matthew 26:56-57.

He stripped himself the gown of his divine glory but maintained his divinity. He became man that we would know he suffered as man. He limited himself to being man and used his communion with the father through the holy spirit to perform miracles.

Yes you are correct.

He shared our weakness as a mere man, which is why he was tempted in the desert by the Devil. And as a man he had to have had the capacity to do bad things but chose not to do them for if he had no capacity to do bad things then he would not be 100% man and 100% God.

Look at His temptation in the desert, He could have made rocks turn into bread but chose not to.
