John was written to get people saved

John 20:31

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

So of course the nessary stuff for salvation would be it.

Salvation by faith alone

John

1

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

3

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

4

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

5

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

6

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

7

38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

8

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

11

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

12

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

14

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

16

27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

20

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

OSAS

6

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

10

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? John 10:32

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matt 5:48

Jesus did good works.

Jesus said to be perfect like the Father.

Jesus is the Father.

I must do good works.

Importance of obeying the commandments

>John 5:29: "And will come out, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation."

>John 5:14: Afterward, Jesus found the man in the temple and said to him, “See, you have been restored. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.”

Eucharist

>I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

>52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

>53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

Priests have authority to forgive sins

>John 20:21-23: Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

Necessity of baptism:

>John 3:5: Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

No

That's being born literally. Other wise it woukd contradict verse 15,16,18,36

>Priests

Priests? What priests? The New Testament knows of no priests.

5ffc55 No.548816

>priests 2000 years kater are the 12 apostles

Nice strawman. Did I say they were? And if you believe that Jesus didn't confer the Apostle the authority to appoint their successors, then you obviously haven't read the bible, otherwise you'd know that they elected Matthias to replace Judas (Acts 1:21-26).

>That's being born literally. Other wise it woukd contradict verse

No, this whole passage was about baptism.

John 3:7: Do not be amazed that I said, ‘You must be born again.’

John 3:22: After this, Jesus and His disciples went into the Judean countryside, where He spent some time with them and baptized.

Yeah if the spirit

Yes, he did "As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you." and “Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”(Matthew 16:18; 18:18)

>Also if you had to be baptized then that would contradict

There's only a contradiction in your flawed interpretation of that verse.

903ff3 No.548843

>>548835

Well those verses don't say anything about sin and the second part was anly to Peter.

>There's only a contradiction in your flawed interpretation of that verse.

But if you think believing isn't enough then that would make verse 15, 16, 18, and 36 false

f01d69 No.548844

>>548816

>>The English word "priest" is derived from the Greek word presbuteros, which is commonly rendered into Bible English as "elder" or "presbyter."

As that accurately notes, the New Testament does not know of a Christian priesthood. Ministers were called elders, and with the development of a Christian priesthood the word changed to mean priest. The English word priest comes from that because a Christian priesthood evolved which changed that word to mean priest.

5ffc55 No.548862

>>548843

>Well those verses don't say anything about sin and the second part was anly to Peter.

It gives the apostles the authority to bind and loose whatever they want. That logically includes who has the authority to forgive sins.

>But if you think believing isn't enough then that would make verse 15, 16, 18, and 36 false

Believing in Christ naturally means obeying him. If he says you have to be born again, then do you really believe in him if you don't do it?
