Full of tears will be that day
When from the ashes shall arise
The guilty man to be judged;
Therefore spare him, O God,
Merciful Lord Jesus,
Grant them eternal rest. Amen.

Millions of souls being systemically denied the sacraments over 5 centuries is one of the greatest tragedies of mankind.

The more time goes by, the more I realize this is the absolute worst tragedy of all time.

What's wrong, brother? Is it the fear of confessing? Whatever it is, I'll pray for you.

Should I confess to a priest? I remember there was a passage in the Bible that stated that you should only confess to Christ. Something like that. I don't remember it all too well.

remove your flag, you are obviously larping if you don't understand why confession is a sacrament

Isn't the point of RCIA to find out if you really want to be Catholic? That logic seems really backwards.
Christanon 11/01/17 (Wed) 19:33:29 caf28e No.548158
If you're Catholic you're obligated to confess to a priest your sins at least once a year. You have to confess all your mortal sins in kind and number (e.g. missing mass x times), and you're encouraged to confess all your venial sins as well. If you're aware of having committed mortal sin(s), you have to confess to a priest before partaking in communion.

Don't be so harsh, unfortunately a lot of Catholics aren't properly catechized nowadays.

Not saying it's wrong, but do you realize due to current state of affairs such demand is more likely to frighten than atract people doing such.

Why would you wait until Confirmation? I thought you only need Baptism.
Here in Poland people usually get confirmed a few years after their first Confession, which diocese/eparchy do you belong to?
Also read about perfect contrition (it needs to be joined with a desire to confess as soon as possible for you to escape Hell by it though).
I don't remember any such passage, try to find it if you want any more detailed understanding.

Making an awkward confession is infinitely preferable to dying while in a state of moral sin. Priests also face automatic excommunication for revealing confessed sins to others so one shouldn't worry about that.

The Church does not demand anything that Christ himself did not demand first when he said: "If I wash thee not, thou shalt have no part with me."

That's weird, I joined the RCIA this year even after the classes had been going for at least month. Granted they did ask me a few questions to make sure I wasn't completely ignorant (honestly this site has been a God send).
